Cities XL 2011

Cities XL 2011

This Game? this SIM? This WTH??
I like the look of this game. It looks like something that would keep me busy for hours :P
I just really don't see the point in purchasing this game when noboy will see what I have created.
The whole reason for a beautiful city is to be seen. What a lonely sad world...
Make this Multiplayer..with trading..make a game that get people talking and driving through your city buying items. and we got a deal.

Hmmm wonder why.... I don't see the point in a game where u build a city, and nobody but you see it. I guess the players like it that way.

Well, you can let others see it, it's this thing. You might have heard of it. It's called Screenshots.
yea it's not like Age of Empires or not even close to being Gamified. No interaction is boring for me in a game. I can build all day without STEAM. I come online to be around gamers. Lonely boy :P.. run along and play now...

Yes, that was a wonderful way of sharing 12 years ago. The world has moved on scince then, Cities XL has not.

Skyrim is still single-player and the only way to share your experience is to show screenshots, show it on your screen playing or just talk about - like it always have been.
You all know that games change their way if they get multiplayer. Nobody would care about all the talk and the insightful quests in Skyrim if there were others running around with you. Because all that matters in that game is to keep up the pace with your buddies stuff - to level up, to gear up and to run run run... skipping quests and quitting the exploring.
SimCity was fine too all the way. - I mean It might be good if there were some online-parts here to interact but it should not be the main part though.

Lexx i like playing games that are RPG and even single player rpg like Fable 2 and 3. Just building for self is not my style all the time. It's ok for a few minutes and a few bucks. I would never spend over 5 dollars on a single player game to just build for myself to admire. :P

If you go back to the original Cities XL it was interesting since it had a multiplayer mode, which included you making avatars and visiting other cities and trading with them. You might already know from research :P. It wasn't a failure it was a bright design just didn't have enough subscribers and Monte Cristo couldn't maintain it.

You could buy SimCity 2013 or 5 or whatever the hell their calling it...it is an MMO or at least Maxis and EA say so. Theoretically you can trade with the other players, ranging maps from 3 cities to 5 and 7 to a few maps have 16...but that game doesn't really deserve to be called a game...but to each their own might be your wonderful multiplayer city building paradise... OFC there is that snag of always online through Origin, dealing with EA, and nearly 3 months after release the game is still broken IMO ppl spend more time on the forums than the game but their working *hard* to fix it...

I have no clue about Cities XL...a city builder where you just placed buildings just seems dull to me but again to each their own...

simcity has real issues. regional gameplay is severely affected and minimally working, if you want to call it working...

trades / transfers can take hours. so its not realtime multiplayer.

also simcity has real issues of its own

its ♥♥♥♥♥/fudged game logic. the design and implementation is a widely publicly discussed disasters.

google about the release. nothing has really been fixed. sure theyve fixed lots of very minor things. but not the real issues. and they have basically told us that they will never be fixed.

so beware of simcity 5. its not a simulation at all. its more like simtown 2. a fun casual game where the things that are happening are just for fun, they have no relationship to any simulation, ect.

for example you can have a city of happy sims that have no jobs, no money and that have no stores to buy even groceries at. sure they are starving, many homeless, without food, water, electricity, ect ect and your told your the best major ever and your making tons of money inspite of fire and crime rampant out of control. but things are humming away and then wait what is that a giant lizard coming and destroying over half your city making you lose hours of game play and wait what no way to return to a prior state, no saves!

but that is not the worse eventually your cities disappear, yes, they just start to disappear and often your cities are rollbacked or made inaccessible by them. why because they did some server upgrade and your city well it didnt upgrade well so they had to roll it back or block access to it. and why do they disappear, well bad things happen on the cloud.

worse you playing with other players in a region, one of them puts a vu tower and your city is overrunned by criminals who burn, loot, rob, murder in your city and their nothing you can do. except abandon your city and start again with hopefully not another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in your region

finally, one last thing, microtransactions are coming

they will be selling all sort of dlcs, one of them will be guess what disasters. yes you can buy a dlc that will let you destory other peoples cities, but dont worry they have a nice solution for that, they will offer another dlc that you can buy that will protect you against that.

you think im making it up, its for real. here read and watch their ceo talking about it

I know They took a great franchise and ruint it with their damn vision...and now EA will start milking people with DLC...

There was a new patch last night...4.0 that from the looks of it and what others are saying fixed quite a bit but I agree it is SimTown not SimCity and regretably I wasted money on it... money I could've pre-ordered BattleField 4 with...but Now Im not sure about that either...

The list is endless of good game companies bought by EA that went to ♥♥♥♥: DICE, BioWare, and Maxis just to name a few and Origin is driving people away aswell with the always online aspect...but enough people will still buy EA related games simply because The Sims are a cash cow, BattleField is much bettter than COD...IMO...and they have the sports games...but that being said and I'm no fan of EA, I rather hate them tbh, nearly all game companies are following the model of put out a game...dlc...dlc...expansion...dlc...dlc... so on and so forth...Hell look at Paradox with CK:II...its the way of future gaming so we may aswell get use to it...Very rarely does a game come out day one polished, yes bugs are to be expected, but not game breaking bugs and content that was once included in patches has now become labled DLC and Expansions...to top it off the games coming out now are ♥♥♥♥ too but to each their own...
