If handled correctly, ATVs could be used. After all some hunters do actually use ATVs to get around when hunting.
plnteclipse Jun 20, 2017 @ 3:53pm
ATVs are more than handy when your stand is deep in the woods. Otherwise, you'd be walking forever which is not so handy if you're trying to beat the sun coming up/going down. Deer will certainly notice the noise, and they'll even get nervous and start blowing when they come across a parked ATV.

Nothing really strikes me as arcadelike about COTW's ATV, when used appropriately of course. As one would expect, they do scare off game when operating.

Nothing wrong with using an ATV irl but not when it comes to CoTW.

In CoTW you can just zoom around like in GTA, jump out and start shooting everything in sight - which either just stands there or starts running around in circles! - failing that you can crash into them....the above vid might seem fun but it looks awful.

You can not hit the animals using the ATV.
PicSoul Jun 21, 2017 @ 5:42pm
The Red screen is from the player taking damage. The player can be hit by the animals but not the other way around, for ethical reasons I would guess.
Hawkeye Jun 22, 2017 @ 8:39am
It is not possible to damage animals with the ATV in any way whatsoever. If a player wants to play like a jackwagon and race around at high speeds trying to trap animals, that's their choice to do so. If you want to play it realistically, you can do that too. BTW, I've been hunting for over 30 years, and have ALWAYS used an ATV to get to my hunting spots. The ATV addition to CoTW allows you to do just that. It feels quite realistic if you use it the way it's intended and not intentionally trying to exploit it.

Now...you want to talk about drones?

A drone can be unlocked very late in Hunting Simulator, towards the final objectives. I personally don't use it and find it more of a gimmick than anything else - it also wastes 1 of 4 slots.

They're used for scouting an area in the distance for a short period of time but in doing so they'll scare away the wildlife - so by the time you reach there, they've already left.

Now, would anyone like to defend the AI's behavior in the video footage shown above for CoTW ? - is there a valid reason for the bisons to just stand there and take numerous headshots?

As for the drone I do not use it either, it makes more noise than anything else :-)
When the bison, they have hard head, it takes minimum 4 shots in the head to fall and they are hard to find.
PESCADOU Jun 23, 2017 @ 12:11am
Hello Cinders,
Yes I know the bison are very hard to find despite the big traces they leave :-)
The Devs will certainly fix all these problems, must not forget that the game is in the beginning phase, must give time to Devs for the development.
Good day to you.

lol if anything is Arcady its this game. Who the hell hunts with drones? lol your argument is revolving around COTW's ATVs? lol the maps in that game are huge, one of COTW's regions is bigger then all of HS's maps combined lol, and that is why they added ATVs. Sure you can fast travel, but that's because it would literally take hours to walk through CoTW maps, and ATV's are an excellent addition to the game. You can only fast travel to outposts which are spread out so far from each other that the maps in Hunting Simulator would fit in between those distances with room to spare lol. COTW wins hands down, but nice try.

Have you even played Hunting Simulator djb? I presume you haven't as you are from Canada and your previous posts state you aren't able to play yet. Therefore, you haven't even seen how drones work - the ATV gameplay in that video looks silly, racing around, getting out and shooitng bugged animals.

Because you haven't tried Hunting Simulator, I guess you haven't played free mode & seen how large those maps are, not only are they large, each with a wide range of different regions, weather effects etc.

All COTW has is heavy rain every 5 minutes.
First of all, If your argument suggests my opinion is invalid because I don't own the game, then that would make your opinion invalid too. You don't own CoTW either.

Secondly, I haven't played HS, but anyone who has played both will tell you that HS map size has nothing on COTW. As for bugged animal? Sorry those were fixed already. The devs on COTW stated they are working on new content too, and based on their previous and TheHunter Classic, and the variety of regions and animals they've offered in that game, CoTWs future looks pretty bright.

PS: the regions in TheHunter Classic blow away anything seen in HS trailer.

What's with the beam of light that shines up to the heavens in Hunting Simulator? Talk about Arcady lol

In a previous post I mentioned how useless drones were - you're not forced to use them and they don't unlock until late game.

ATVs were brought into CoTW to appease those that don't have the patience to hunt and stalk their prey due to the one large map - it's more of a pretty trekking simulator. But, in Hunting Simulator - you're required to do just that because of the Legendary missions.

Legendary missions? I seen them on YouTube. Very scripted.

I see one bugged out animal right after the other in this game and I haven't even played an hour. Keep going back to COTW because single player is mostly problem free for me.

And it's not that the devs and mods for cotw are taking every post down pointing out flaws. Have you cared to take a look at the bug reports? Some people just get carried away to the point they bring nothing constructive to the general threads and resort to bickering.

People aren't posting in such a way here because...well...there just don't seem to be many people even playing anyway. I like that this game is loaded with content, but I really hope the devs can improve several aspects, mainly with animal ai.

I have played about 25 hours in COTW, however it doesn't show up on my account because I had it removed - enabled it agian, just to make you happy! :)

COTW has two large maps, that look pretty similar - Hunting Simulator has 12 different regions, all different areas, a range of various weather effects and as I mentioned previously, COTW just the same constant rain.

New content locked behind more DLC; give it time and they'll be selling the same animals from the Classic version as DLC.

Bugged animals were not fixed whatsoever, have you not seen the video Cinders linked? Did you not even take a small amount of time and check out all of those bisons just standing around?

Animals are fixed? Care to take a look at this video, uploaded on the 8th June: (Skip to 1:28)
https://youtu.be/usXVwe8t0aY?t=88
and even more recent, uploaded on the 26th June: (Skip to 3:18)

Not buggy at all, of course they just freeze.

We're talking about Call of the Wild, not theHunter Classic, lol

Agreed, they don't look the best, but you don't have to have them there if you don't want; they're just waypoints which you can check off.

I highly doubt that's the case here, but at least we don't get our threads deleted / locked by the developers / moderators for posting small amounts of critism - The developers and mods over at COTW try and make the forums look like a lovely place - keeping it clean & deleting any thread that lists it's flaws.

Can I ask you as to why you think we delete all the criticism on the COTW forums? You seem to be in the minority as most think we do a nice job of leaving criticism if it doesn't get out of hand too much.
☠djb204☠ Jul 3, 2017 @ 4:28pm
I know we are talking about CoTW and not Classic, the point I'm getting at is CoTW was created by the same devs that made Classic, and Classic didn't start off with all those hunting reserves/regions at launch. They were added over time, and now that game has a large amount of hunting reserves. COTW is in its early days, so based on what we've seen from these devs, COTW has a bright future. I wonder if HS has some DLC coming?

You also mentioned new content being locked behind DLC? Hunting Simulator forces players to play their missions before they get access to other regions. The entire game is locked behind single player progression. Not cool.

and didn't this game have day1 DLC?
