Why is sonic mania adventures, a youtube mini series receiving such poor ratings?
For me. This is not just one of the best, IT IS THE BEST! It is so charming, clean and wonderdul! The mania music makes it even better! It is almost similiar to tom and jerry where they don't have any dialogues but still it has expressions and sound effects to make it up for that. This is just perfect! The people involved in this went through a lot of hardwork and also gave it to us for free!!! The people involved in this must make a TV series! It has so much potential and talent! But the ratings in ImDB are so low! When I went into the user reviews page, I see that 80% of the reviews are 10/10, 15% are 9/10 and 5% is 8/10. But still it has an overall rating like 4.9/10. Why???

Because people are never happy.

It's much better than Sonic X and Underground.

Yeah! I recently found out that some modern sonic fans were spamming bad reviews for this show! They wanted modern sonic and not classic sonic. So someone acting like a 4 year old child created fake imdb accounts and spammed 0 rating for the show. Man, why is the sonic fanbase so toxic?! This is the only problem i have with the sonic franchise. 🙄

But the fanbase is a lot better than before..... when I asked this question to about 50 sonic fans "Is sonic lost world better than super mario galaxy" they would say " What are you talking about? This game is thousands of times better than that mario game!" But now when i ask the same question they say "Yeah we know, it is inferior to galaxy but it is still pretty decent" I liked the answers. They were not so crazy as they did now. The fanbase was coming back to normal. But now this kid...... or whoever it is........

I've seen some that even preach the lack of Classic-like content on the next Aniversary being good as an absolute fact.
I have no nostalgia for the Adventure games at all yet are still the Sonic games I ended up enjoying the most. But I've seen some good examples of some very different takes on the formula that worked fairly well after Adventure 2 Battle. Heroes, for example, had that team based gameplay that was a ton of fun and made good use of the different characters' strengths.

That said, I am absolutely against forcing 2D into a 3D game where it doesn't belong and I hope from here on out that 2D gameplay stays in 2D side-scrollers and/or is kept to an absolute minimum.

Yeah, I don't get why...

And that is really sad... the absolute state of the fanbase!

No wonder why Sega and the Sonic Team don't even know what to do with their franchise anymore...

In fact, I think the Sonic Fanbase is the reason why SEGA does not know what to do. Many people hated sonic's friends after the release of sonic 06. So sega gave us a new formula and only sonic. Now, after 2020, sonic fans are asking for more playable characters. After the release of sonic unleashed, many people wanted only daytime stages in unleashed. So colors was released. People loved colors. But now it is hated since it has too many 2d sections. Honestly sonic colors did not deserve the praise it got after release but at the same time it does not get the hate its getting now. For me colors is a 8/10 and it's still a pretty solid game. The 2D sections are anyway much better than Sonic 4 lol. Now people are hating generations saying it's a bit short game and story is dumb. They always find reasons to hate a good sonic game than to enjoy it. After the release of sonic 06 and boom rise of lyric, hating sonic is easy now unfortunately. If I were the head of sonic team I think I will ask the team to split into 3 if possible Where 1 set would work for classic, one for spinoff or other non canon games like advance or rush and the largest set for the upcoming modern sonic games. This way the classic sonic fans, people who like games like lost world, rush etc.., and modern sonic fans would be satisfied.

I think SEGA is indeed going into that direction of splitting their team. They mentioned that there are going to be numerous sonic games to celebrate sonic's 30th anniversary. That's the reason why it's taking more time for them to even provide screenshots of their games. That is just my theory of what's going on.

Part of that also has to do with Sonic Team themselves especially considering how other platforming franchises are able to get away with many different playable characters. Spyro 3 had seven different playable characters that all played drastically different from each other and that's not even mentioning all the different vehicles and other alternate game modes, Sly 3 also had 7 playable characters, each of which having very different abilities none of the others are able to pull off on their own and don't forget, Sonic Team earlier on was also able to get this right with Sonic Adventure 2, a game with three different play styles (four if you count the kart racing) and that also worked really well.

The main difference is that despite the drastic changes to the gameplay, these extra characters usually didn't take away from the core gameplay, rather they put a new spin on it to keep things fresh and prevent it from getting stale.

Not to mention Sonic Unleashed. You can mostly thank IGN, Gamespot and other media outlets for that. Instead of giving these games a fair chance and actually trying to get good at them, they instead write them off as bad because they don't understand how they work. Kind of reminds me of how one journalist couldn't even get past the Cuphead tutorial

Even though Sonic Team did the absolute best they could with Unleashed and being one of the best 3D games in the series, it got worse scores than Sonic 06 and Shadow the Hedgehog, even though Unleashed is way better than either of those games by a significant margin.

I honestly have no idea whatsoever how Unleashed even got the reception that it did, and as a fan of this series, it frustrates me that such an ambitious game that did so many things well got written off as one of the worst in the series, which might explain why Sonic Team never tried anything ambitious ever again. They're scared of the reception these games might get, they've lost all confidence in making that one special game and whether they try their best or not, people aren't going to give it a fair chance anyway. At least, that's how I feel anyway.

Sonic 06 was also ambitious, but the difference is that Unleashed knew what kind of game it wanted to be and focused on that while at the same time knowing its limits, whereas Sonic 06 tried way too much in one game to have any sort of focus or clear direction.

Or maybe because Sega doesn't know how to make a game that is good for everybody.

Nintendo managed to please any of their fans.

And maybe that's for the best because if a game is made for everybody, then it's made for nobody. In fact, Sonic Team tried exactly that with Sonic Forces and look how that turned out, while Mania was made for classic fans and was generally well received.

You are completely wrong. Nintendo Fans are pleased with every mario game. Have you seen people hating galaxy games just because they are a fan of the original NSES? Or have you seen people hating galaxy games or odyssey just because they like super mario 64 and its open world? Or have you seen them pleading for a remaster? Nintendo fanbase is not as split apart as the sonic fanbase.

Yeah I can see that Forces classic sonic was made for classic fans. The avatar was probably made for adventure fans. The modern sonic for the modern fans. It did not work out well.

I think this time SEGA and Sonic Team are going in the right direction since they mentioned numerous games for 2021 (or maybe 2022). I think they meant 1 game each for classic, adventure and modern fans. Hope this anniversary turns out well. For now they revealed only 1 game:

SONIC : THE CARD GAME 😆

Edit: I think I will try this game

That's what I said, Nintendo are making good games even to this day.

Like when they made Sonic 2006 and Secret Ring?

The Avatar is made for people who wanted their "original character do not steal" in the game
