Yeah I know sometimes they dumb, but not this bad.

Seriously, even they sucks with 15 years anniversary of Sonic with bad Sonic 06 and Sonic Genesis on GBA, at least they could fight back with Sonic Mania.

But now they giveaway Sonic Mania on Epic + Exclusivity Sonic Colors Ultimate on EGS was another crap.

I agree with the colors exclusivity being lame, but giving away mania for free? What, would it be better if they didn't give it for free? How does that affect you?

More bugs for the China bug bate, I mean China spyware installer/ Fortnite launcher. They need to dangle out fruit because their crap launcher service needed bate to attract more uninformed people. What a evil cooperation Epic Games is, got to get that China money.

CCP party time, we have info on how we can cause mass infighting. Leak shame and leak some more. That's what the evil ass people in china do, if you ask me they need to be banned from the free market.

I would much rather pay for the things I love than to get them for free.

Why? Give some reasons. Nothing you guys are saying makes sense.

It doesn't make sense because stuff like this is difficult to explain. It may seem weird, and to most people it is, but some things in life are worth the support, financial or otherwise.

Greed is an enemy of all, and this doesn't just apply to corporations, but to us as well. And sadly, I feel like what Epic is doing here is encouraging this from both sides - us for being way too generous with receiving free games (some of which we may not even want) and them for exclusivity deals and their countless microtransactions and revenue stream in you-know-what.

Even outside of that, however, my point still stands. I would, for example, much rather spend extra money on games of my choice over spending less money on a collection of the same number of games. At least with the former, my time and money is actually going into stuff I actually want, while the latter is just going to be useless junk I may not even want or be interested in. After all, isn't the customer always right?

You're saying you'd rather pay for sonic mania than receive sonic mania for free. Don't bring up other games and whatnot, we're talking about sonic mania here.

I still don't quite understand how you could be so negative about this specifically. You'd rather they didn't give mania for free? Just.. Don't claim it then?

Again, stuff like this is very difficult to explain, especially as someone who's on the autism spectrum and has a very different perspective of the world around me which only makes it even harder for me to describe how I feel about the situation.

No, I didn't claim Mania on EGS. In fact, I don't even have an EGS account (and it's probably for the best). Besides, I already bought this game twice before - once on Switch and again on Steam.

I guess if I had another genuine reason to complain - imagine buying this game on Steam, only to later on see it on another storefront that's giving it away for free - wouldn't you feel ripped off? I don't know if it's just a limited time thing or not; if that's the case, whatever, more options for people to buy the game later on when it's no longer free isn't a bad thing, but if it's free forever on EGS but still has a price on Steam, that only further proves my point.

Actually this makes perfect sense now. Thanks for explaining.

Yeah, I've bought Mania twice as well: the collector's edition pre-order on Steam which came with the Sonic statue standing on a Genesis among other things, and the japanese physical collector's edition on switch which came with 2-CD soundtrack and artbook.

I also refuse to install the Epic Games launcher on my PC, and thus refuse to play any of the games I claim for free. I still don't get upset when they offer free games. Sonic Mania hasn't even been offered for free yet: it's only free from June 24 till Canada Day. I'm still going to claim it because I literally have no reason not to. It's just a simple click. Less effort than complaining about it on a forum.

No offense, but didn't Sega themselves did something similar on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store even before this? The mobile ports of Sonic 1, 2, and CD (among some other games they published) used to cost money to actually play them up until they became ad-supported F2P games as part of the Sega Forever service on mobile platforms whereas you still have to pay for them on consoles or PC. It's even worse if factor the quality of the ports between platforms, like Crazy Taxi on Steam for example, which costs $7.99 USD yet it runs terribly even on modern hardware and missing the original licensed soundtrack, whereas the mobile port is free yet it plays like a dream (assuming you can put up with touch/motion controls or have a compatible gamepad) and has the game's original licensed soundtrack intact.

How does it effect???
1. Did you saw the devs on EGS??
They only put Lab42 name only, No Christian Whitehead, No Headcannon, No PagodaWest.

2. The fans want it on PC, but they don't give an option what they want to buy for digital PC
CP2077 already do that even with their GOG launcher, why Sega can't???
Plus, EGS account sometimes suck at login. I only could login EGS with PlayStation Account (No joke)
They don't learn from Shenmue 3 which is not by Sega

3. This is why Sega on the dark side again, remember 15th Sonic anniversary. They Sh*ttin their fans again what they want, and they think about 88% Chunks

I know Sonic Colors Ultimate Exclusive 1 year only, but consider Sonic Mania giveaway and another games from Sega was another big big BIG MISTAKE or MIDDLE FINGER to the fans

This is more than just a crap data leaks, but trust me it worse
