Epic Games\UE_4.25\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Windows\XAudio2_9\x86
Epic Games\UE_4.26\.egstore\bps\Install\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Windows\XAudio2_9\x86
Epic Games\UE_5.0EA\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Windows
but prehaps because i have UE4/5 installed.
I tried placing them in C:/Windows/System32 & SysWOW64
(x86 in System32 & x64 in SysWOW64) under various names
xaudio2_9redist.dll
xaudio2_9.dll
XAudio2_9.dll
none of combos worked.
The one in the xaudio2_9.7z is it x86/32bit?

F:\Epic Games\SonicMania\.egstore\Binaries\ThirdParty\Windows\XAudio2_9
F:\Epic Games\SonicMania\.egstore\Binaries\ThirdParty\Windows\XAudio2_9\x64
and various combos to no effect
1. Download the package from here: https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.XAudio2.Redist/1.2.6
2. Rename the file that you downloaded from microsoft.xaudio2.redist.1.2.6.nupkg extension to microsoft.xaudio2.redist.1.2.6.zip.
3. Extract the zip file to someplace convenient location on you PC, the go to build > native > release > bin. You'll see two folders, x86 and x64. Sonic Mania is a 32-bit game, so you want to go into the one labeled x86, and you'll see a xaudio2_9redist.dll. Rename this file to xaudio2_9.dll, removing the "redist" part of the name.
4. Try and see if placing the xaudio2_9.dll file in the game's folder where the executable is or in those system folders mentioned above does anything.
This worked
Can you list which folders you used specifically as well as the file name, so I can get a picture of what is and what isnt working for people.
Anyone any idea why the nuget.org or appleofeden.de-doc.com file would be different to the XAudio2_9 files within the Unreal Engine folders??
I have tried placing both x64 and x86 files from UE4 into all of the folders listed and no effect on bringing back the sound.
Doesnt seem to have the AltTab issue anymore.
it may have fixed the launch crashing for those who didnt edit the ini file.
But i still cannot get sound and still get the Save file issue :(
