Why the Forces hate?
I mean it looks like it plays like Colors and Generations and people say those are the best games in the modern era. So why do I keep hearing stuff like "Forces looks like trash"

Because Classic Sonic already has Mania so there's no reason to have him in Forces. I don't feel that's a good enough reason to say the game is trash but there will still be hate anyway.

Sonic Mania's goal was to try and make people like Sonic and show them he can be good and people should still support him. But instead, this has caused people to hate on Sonic even more because it gives people more of a reason to say that Sonic was never good in 3d and that fans of Sonic can make better games than Sonic Team themselves.

Since Sonic Mania has released, everyone has been saying that its the only good Sonic game since Sonic 3 and Sonic never worked in 3d, Even though its been done right so many times before. So now everyone is hating on Forces because its 3d, and people are assuming that Mania will be better. I hope that Sonic Team can make another great 3d Sonic game and show people that Sonic can work in 3d.

imo, if mania was never released forces woudn´t get as much hated as it might be getting

(not saying mania is bad, I haven´t even played to have opinion xD, but it looks AWESOME)

like mania got all the attention (or at least most of it) from the fanbase, mostly because of "nostalgia",and also since its a return to the "golden era"

I have good hopes for forces (and I'll be honest I'm slightly more excited for it :/)

Another factor is on a forum like this in which Classic Sonic only fans come in numbers you'll be seeing more hate for Forces than in a place with more 3D or just any type of Sonic game in general fans show up. Other factors go into it as well like

- 2D sections for Modern Sonic and OC the OC when Classic Sonic is already 2D

- Wisps coming back as well as Colors' double jump (apparently those are bad [?] yeah I don't understand the problem there)

- Green Hill Zone again, even though it's one of 3 good zones from Sonic 1 (and it has the cool desert and factory things)

When more is shown of it and I've had my Mania fill I know I'll be hyped for Forces, I've heard Mania ties into Forces but I haven't watched anything related to the ending so I can't confirm this (also please nobody spoil that).

it looks like crap to me because of the way the 2d sections look and also the way the game engine looks.

sonic unleashed day time stages look better than sonic forces speed stages and that game came out like almost a decade ago.

the "create a character" crap looks so corny and looks like it panders to devianart 8 year olds. flame thrower??? REALLY? what is this shadow the hedgehog all over again!!?

then again ive only seen one level so who knows others might be better.

And people hate that modern sonic has 2d sections but I don't mind them at all

If they're fun I don't care about them being there or not, I can understand the problem with having the 2 3D characters having 2D sections when there's already a 2D character though.

I do think Forces will be a great game, but I dont like how the're bringing back Classic Sonic again and how 2D is being overused. Im fine with the wisps returning and im happy the double jump is back and I also think Green Hill looks pretty good. It just seems to be getting a bad rep because of how good Mania is. Dont get me wrong, Mania looks amazing, like a 10/10 amazing, but I feel people are being blinded by nostalgia and are just assuming that Mania will be the better game.

It lookes like a wasted potential.
- Level design: Looks too much like Colors (linear, too much 2D), not enough like Generations
- Music: Modern - great. Custom - fantastic. Classic - sounds like a Sanic fangame.
- Classic gameplay: Looks blander than Generations, mostle because of how Generations used 3D and multiple layers. GHZ with sand looks like a straight line, what is jarring in 3D. It's also less impressive than Mania.
- 2D. Why Modern Sonic STILL has 2D sections, when Classic is 100% 2D? Couldn't Modern be 100% 3D?
- Marketing. "Even heroes need help" and then Classic. Yeah, help of yourself. If they wanted pure 2D gameplay style with rolling, Tails and Knuckles would be better.
- Rehashes, AGAIN, after Generations. Green Hill AGAIN, Chemical Plant AGAIN, Planet Wisp AGAIN... And for Mania it's often the only complaint.

In short, Classic Sonic is redundant, level design doesn't twist enough and too much 2D (and Mania does 2D better) and rehashes.

Personally, Generations is my favorite Sonic game and my dream sequel to it is 100% 3D boost gameplay, with other characters and new stages. Forces seems to be close to that perfection, but still hasn't reached my dream game. But despite that, I'm expecting the best Sonic game ever made.

I get the feeling Classic Sonic is gonna be in every anniversary game alongside Modern Sonic, something I don't entirely mind but it might get old after a while.

Well there's an answer for that to some extent, fully 3D requires a lot of time to come up with new level sections to avoid copy and paste level design (look at Heroes, that game is full of copy paste level design) and thus could turn out like 06 in not having enough time to finish the levels and resorting to copy pasting. Unless Forces got the appropriate amount of dev time that would be a possible failure.

People think every Sonic game looks like trash.

I'm looking forward to Forces myself, I actually am looking forward to it more than Mania, because I enjoy the 3d era Sonic games more than the 2d ones majority of the time.

I am slightly disappointed about the game looking like a Sonic Generations 2 more than anything else, not that I don't want a Generations 2, but I would like to see more Sonic Adventure style games without the focus on Classic Sonic as well.

People also make fun of the character creator, since it allows you to make your own characters using sonic themed animal designs. The Sonic community is known for making their "OC do not steal" Sonic characters, so unsurprisingly people are expecting to see a lot more of those after Forces releases.

I enjoy character creators in general, so I am going to just treat it like any other character creator, like the ones in Fallout/Skyrim, and enjoy it for what it is.

I have a hard time seeing how people could think the game will be bad though, if they liked Generations at all. Seems pretty clearly to be a Generations 2 as I said, following the same design in general, but having maybe more focus on plot.

Oh, and Infinite's theme I think is both hilariously cheesy, and also sounds pretty good. I used to like classic Linkin Park music and music styled off of that, but I can't help but giggle when I hear lines like "I am the sharpest of blades, I'll cut you down in a second". It's hard for me to take music seriously with those kind of lyrics. Otherwise I think it sounds pretty decent.

SA2 and Most of Generations were good. Every other 3d sonic game is an ugly digital abortion.

Meanwhile I'm sitting here getting accused of being an OC (not on this thread but it happens all the time) for being original and not using any of the well known characters as my profile.

I pretty much agree to everything here, one neat thing about Infinite's theme is when you play it and tracks like Open Your Heart or Reach for the Stars it sounds like a hero and a villain arguing.
