Sonic Mania won't detect Switch Pro Controller

I recently got a Switch Pro Controller, and was amazed that Steam had support for it. I tried it out with a few games, and they all work. However, it won't work with Sonic Mania. Steam itself is detecting the controller, I can even mess with the controller config, but Sonic Mania is not reading the inputs of the controller. I tried bluetoothing, MircoUSB to USB, reinstalling Sonic Mania, restarting Steam, banging the controller, and much more. I prefer to not use a third party program, but I will if I have to. Got any ideas for my trouble..?

I'm not sure about the switch pro controller, but it's not uncommon for games these days to not properly let you pick the device that is player 1.

I've had similair issues on other games, but it's working perfectly fine for me on Sonic Mania with my wii u pro controller (steam thinks it's an xbox controller), after I set it up through steam/ big picture mode.

Go to the Steam menu from the client.
Settings.
Controller

Now on this menu, make sure the controller is detected down at the bottom.

And up above, make Switch Pro Controller box is check, and for good measure do the same for the xbox one is checked too.

Part 2:
Now if it's still not working.
-Open steam in Big Picture Mode

-Find Sonic Mania in your library.

- Now click on Manage Game

- Top left should have some controller options, and make sure you change it to the right device, and otherwise play with the options in there.

Ok, I started going through everything, and there are no controllers present in the "Change XInput Controller Order". However in other games, there is a controller.

Ok, holy heck, after reinstalling Sonic Mania (again) and banging my controller when the game was booting up, it suddenly decided to work. Thanks for your help!
