Is there a way to revert back to original Metal Sonic fight?

The new addition to the boss fight is fine, but I would've preferred it remain an Encore exclusive. I played the original Metal Sonic boss fight a LOT because it was so fun and intense. It would've been nice if we had the option to choose...or much like Mirage Saloon Zone it's based on which character you're playing as that determines which Metal Sonic you fight.

I tried unchecking the installed checkbox for the Encore DLC, but the new Metal Sonic boss was there to stay. The only difference was it went back to the original 4 hits in the first phase instead of 3.

Does anyone know of a way I could downgrade Mania to a previous build where I can get this fight back? Not sure if the Dev Team is planning on returning this option to us.

i don't think so. that boss was changed in the update that gave dlc support. even if you don't have the dlc, its still changed in the base game. personally i think its an improvement, but to each their own

Not moddable either because we have no idea how to port things that are hard-coded into the game, like the programming for the boss fights. Your only option if you really want to play that one fight again is to rollback the entire game to a previous update; this old guide I made for the second-to-last update to the original Mania last year[pastebin.com] can work here.

Thank you, that's what I was looking for. I downloaded the files and made a copy of my game folder to a new folder called Sonic Mania Original. Afterwards I added a shortcut to the game on my Steam library and was able to replay the fight.

This has introduced a new issue in my new folder where you're locked to keyboard controls regardless of what configuration you choose, but I can always figure that out another time.
