Sort of? Kind of?
The DLC package itself is fine for the price, 2 new playable characters and a Second Quest gives it some replayability at the very least, I love the new character swap mechanic and it reminds me quite a bit of Spark the Electric Jester in a way, there's also a totally new Mirage Saloon act to play which is a ton of fun to go through. The new Special stages are also a mighty challenge (no pun intended) to get through! I was pretty confident in finishing the Mania Mode Stages but most of these had me collecting the emerald with less than 5 seconds remaining very often...
But the problem lies in the fact that aside from those things mentioned, the only real thing it offers is some new enemy and object placements, and a set of mostly ugly recolours (seriously so much brown...) you don't even get a new true final boss and there's not even a special cinematic cutscene for finishing the thing (with or without emeralds) heck saying that there's absolutely NO new bosses in this mode (Metal sonic doesn't count, you don't even need to BUY the DLC for that to change... another shame, as making it Encore-Exclusive would have given players an incentive to try Encore)
Honestly, unless you've not got Mania at all yet, or are a massive Sonic Fan, or REALLY want to play as Mighty and Ray, I think people are better off just sticking without it for now, as you can expeirence a lot of the polish in the game simply by having the most recent update. A good DLC for the price but had so much more potential and is in no way an essential buy
