(Fun fact: In Sonic Adventure, Tails says that he can't depend on Sonic forever. In Forces, he's scared of Chaos 0 even though he defeated Chaos 4 in Adventure.)
I'd say more "hit and miss" actually.
Lost world's story was freakin' excellent. Tails got to do some cool stuff, Sonic had some character development, Eggman got some development and was able to flip things around to his advantage again, etc. Hell, even Knuckles's one scene playing with the little animals and taunting Sonic like a proper rival was hilarious.
It's just a shame that Forces seems to be more on the miss side of the spectrum.
