Is there a way to avoid laser beam when fighting Encore Metal Sonic?

So i got Sonci Mania plus and when playing mania mode after i pass thro Stardust Speedway Zone Act 2 boss is Encore Metal sonic (the one that chases you) and im with Simple sonic. How can i beat the boss without being hit with laser beam?

I have also checked the walkthroughs apearently everyone in Mania mode has a different boss fight and Encore Metal sonic appears only in encore mode. Have i encountered a bug?

Neo Metal Sonic is set to appear in all modes, so no, you've not encountered a bug. What you're encountering is outdated walkthroughs from a time before Plus.

I did but his laser beam goes up right after and still hits me

Then you're not doing it right. Go to the right of the screen and jump right as he shoots it.
