Retrobit Genesis Controller not working

I just picked up Sonic Mania, and wanted to try playing it with my Retrobit Genesis controller but it is not being detected by the game.

Checked that the controller inputs are working fine via 'Set up USB Controllers' -> 'Properties' and it works in other games (Messenger)

Has anyone gotten their Retrobit controllers working with Sonic Mania?

I can't get any controller to work with this game at all. Does it even support controllers? If not, whose ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea was it to make us play Sonic on a keyboard?

i am not pro in that topic but you can try JoyToKey or any method that convert joypad input to keyboard output , good luck

i got it... make sure you restart steam as well. For some reason it thinks its a switch controller

Sorry I didn't see your reply! I found out you can also switch between X-Input or DirectInput by holding the start button for 5 seconds once plugged in, which my solve some issues as well.

I found the solution. You have to hold Start + B for 5 seconds while the start screen of the game. Hope it helps.
