Are you genuinely asking why people like the game, or just trolling?
If you're really asking, consider offering a starting point for a discussion, such as anything specific about Sonic Mania that you did not like, or compare and contrast with any similar game which you do like.
For instance, you have 26 hours in Freedom Planet. Why do you evidently enjoy that game, but not this one? It's a discussion just waiting to happen, and the discussion might elucidate for you why it is that people enjoy Sonic Mania.
As is, your post reads like this: "I personally don't enjoy this game, so is it actually bad and everyone except for me is a gullible rube with a nostalgia boner?"
No one wants to jump in on something like that.
I mean, if someone said this to you, would you be very eager to reply?
I didn't mean to come across like that. I'll try to fix this.
No need to fanboy all over his thread, it's called an opinion boy
They were neither arguing against or for the OP's opinion, I'd hardly call that "fanboying" when they are merely pointing out how incendiary and hostile it is by nature. Presenting your opinion by suggesting everyone else's is wrong won't garner very many earnest responses.
Which if he genuinely wanted to know why people like Sonic Mania, wouldn't do much for him as it was simply not conducive to discussion that would give him an answer.
I'm mostly satisfied with the post as it is now, even if I don't agree with any of the reasoning.
My bad, didn't see his post was edited
Agreed, people should always eleborate when they say they don't like a game and specify what they don't like
The reasons I enjoy Mania are similar- and don't get me wrong, there were superb platformers back in the original trilogy's time too. Nowadays, Mario is still pulling strong, the Rayman Legends/Origins games are fantastic, and games like Little Big Planet add elements to platformers I've never thought possible.
Sonic Mania is a blast to play because, I think, once you have it's gameplay down, it's possible to run through stages while discovering little routes you may have missed the first time around, or find a chaos emerald ring in an unlikely place. I do wish it did just a little more to add more replayability, like giving local coop a boost in functionality, or online play, but what we have is just fun for me period.
I don't see many cheap deaths in this one, and replying to the OP's post, I think if you get in the habit of rolling and drop dashing more, and expecting spiked enemies sometimes, you can react fast enough to avoid getting hit. The first time I played through the final zone, I didn't die once and got that achievement associated with it on Xbox, now anytime I attempt it I die due to stupid mistakes I can't blame the game for XP
That's funny, since i DO have the habit of drop dashing, rolling, and spindashing often.
Let me guess...First time playing a Sonic game?
Nope, i've played plenty of Sonic games, including the genesis games, and this problem of mine applies to them, too. (didn't like 1, or 3&K, 2 is the best imo).
Watch this to realize just how much you suck at the game.

Don't bash the game if you can't play it at a high level.
How silly of me for criticising a game that i can't master. I guess i should shun criticisms of games that i AM a master at!
