It's toned down on Steam, but the Facebook Sonic groups are cringe city. I was a member for like a year. It's bad... real bad. People were always breaking the Sonic character shipping (dating/porn) rules.

That's because most of the bad Sonic art is from a decade or longer ago when the worst people were spamming their ♥♥♥♥ artwork everywhere. Most of the current fan works are from people who like it as nostalgia and probably actually played the Genesis games. Most of the fans of Sonic are grown adults, hence the "Hooters" collabortion that Sonic Team is doing and other adult references. Kids don't care about Sonic anymore (not even really Sonic Boom, which has more of an Internet following).

Yeah that subreddit is pretty good. But Sonic fans are actually more tolerable these days than they used to be. The annoying people left to get into other fandoms like Five Nights at Freddy's and Undertale.
