Oil Ocean Zone - just why?
Meme Thread.

But seriously, I guess 90% of ppl that played the classics were confused when this zone that literally noone likes popped up.

I mean you could've put Hill Top or Mystic Caves(think about all the possibilities - since that one couldve given more winks to the Spinball game)

Or Metropolis Zone cause the music alone redone by this masterful composer would've sounded rad.

---------------------------------------------------------

Another confusing zone would be Lava Reef - I mean LavaReef is cool and most people like it , but why use that instead of everyones favourite Ice Cap Zone ?

-- Speaking of Sonic 3 zones , the transition from Stardust Speedway to Hydrocity makes no sense.

Would of loved Mystic Caves, I was hoping that one would pop up and got sad when I completed it for first time and realised it's not there :(

Do you mean "would have"?

But yes, I had several Game Overs here.

It would kinda odd having Mystic Cave followed by Lava Reef, essentially 2 cave levels with some design similarites.

I liked it. More than Stardust Speedway and Metallic Madness.

Wow, something must be wrong with you if you like Oil Ocean more than Stardust Speedway.

Oh, that explains it.

But now its two "goo" levels - Chemical Plant and Oil Ocean.

No matter how bad they were in the originals - they are awesome in Mania. Period.

The Oil smoke mechanic in Oil Ocean Mania version is pretty neat. Makes the zone a bit less boring. Otherwise I agree it seemed like an odd choice. Might as well have picked another zone from Sonic 2 nobody remembers like Hill Top lol.

As for Lava Reef though I always thought it was one of the coolest an underrated zones in Sonic&Knuckles. Good music. Neat transition between acts with one lava, and the other kind of a crystal tech theme. Cool boss. I do feel like it was a bit unnecessary to have it in Mania though. They barely added anything interesting to it. I think they just wanted to have the Master Emerald in the game.

even though im not a fan of oil ocean, it was pretty cool here but probably my least favorite returning zone in the game and second least favorite overall

The same two "goo" levels were in Sonic 2 as well. At least they chose the best of them.
