Quoted from Wikipedia: "On 29 August 2016, it was announced that Renegade Kid has closed, to be replaced by two new studios: Atooi (who owns all of Renegade Kid's 2D IPs, such as Mutant Mudds) and Infitizmo (which owns all of Renegade Kid's 3D IPs, such as Dementium)."
A Gameboy is normally held close to your face so it's playable. OP made it sound like he props his phone up and sits 3 feet away. Either that or he sits hunched over a table. Both sound pretty bad compared to a handheld console.
Most controllers designed for phones have a physical holder for the phone. You hold the controller, and the controller holds the phone. And even if you want to use your PS3 controller, you buy plastic accessoires, that connect both.
The extra power consumption from a Bluetooth signal for the controller is probably minuscule compared to the extra power consumption from playing games, as both tend to use the CPU and GPU a lot.
There are examples of this already. ScummVM loads all sorts of point and click adventure games like Myst -- all you need are the original game assets. This allows Myst to be played on platforms it wasn't intended to be played on.
I'm sure given its popularity, someone will create one for Retro SDK / Retro Engine games.
So you have RetroLoader\ and RetroLoader\Assets\Sonic2Android.rsdk , SonicMania.rsdk , SonicCD.rsdk and when you launch it, it shows a menu and has you choose which game to load if you have multiple RSDK files. And in theory there will be full blown fangames using Retro Engine by then too.
And save data will be kept separate for each game.
