"The code execution cannot proceed because msvcp140.dll was not found."
I have deleted and reinstalled the game.
I have verified the integrity of the game files.
And just now, I tried to install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2017. Nothing has worked thus far. I'm beginning to think I bet on the wrong horse, here. I wanted to enjoy mods, but all this stuff plus...other controversy...isn't really worth the trouble...
You can simply download the DLL from dll-files.com, that might fix the issue.
https://www.dll-files.com/msvcp140.dll.html
Just put the .dll file in the game's folder where the game's executable resides. Worth a shot, see what happens.
Otherwise maybe just try something like a DirectX Redist.
EDIT: No dice. Didn't work.
Now the error box says:
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b)"
One hour spent troubleshooting thus far. I'm not giving this another hour. This is just getting stupid...
Oh, no, always download the 32-bit version. Sonic Mania is a 32bit game, not 64.
How about this one? https://www.opendll.com/index.php?file-download=msvcp100.dll&arch=32bit&version=10.0.20506.1
But I tried your first link again. I grabbed the 32 bit version this time. And nooooow the error box says:
"The code execution cannot proceed because vcruntime140.dll was not found."
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza...
EDIT: To be clear, I am placing this download in the same folder as Sonic Mania. Other research told me to do this. So I assume that's what I'm supposed to be doing now.
Oh, sorry about that, lol. Don't mean to spam you or anything. So follow suit with that .dll as well, or however missing .dll's it takes. It just sounds like you're missing a buttload of MS Virtual components. Which leads me to believe they might be in a DirectX Redist for Windows 7/8. I dunno why for some Windows 10 users they're not there, but it seems to happen sometimes.
But how do I solve this DirectX problem you're talking about? I just tried googling it, and I got results that go back to 2011...That won't help me.
Xaionik, I'm not sure what you mean by "running the 32bit MVSC installer." Even you mean to download the 32 bit msvc, I already did that. It was just one file from a zip folder. Not some kind of installer.
I did go and check my Avast antivirus. I had it scan Sonic Mania, and it detected no threats.
EDIT: Yskar, I honestly do not believe it's my antifvirus's fault. I've got over a hundred games on steam, and even fan games. My antivirus never interfered. And, like I said, I just scanned Sonic Mania.
