i saw some....questionable mods , so I know it's possible. questionable as in it was a sonic as a p3n1s mod.

Actually wouldnt mind Silver Sonic, Amy, or anyone really as official DLC

The simple inclusion of a new character done well would make the whole game fun to play again

Patching out the Malware and allowing me to stream it to my NVdia Shield TV without the black screen of death would be even better.

But greedy publisher would rather ♥♥♥♥ me over than fix the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game.

It wouldn't be worth modding her in unless she was like her Sonic Advance self. She had a bit of a learning curve in that game. But her hammer allowed her to get more air from vertical springs, and her big step gave her a bigger boost from horizontal springs. That, plus her higher hammer jumps allowed her to reach shortcuts and alternate routes that were not available for Sonic. It added a lot of replayability, and made her a legitimate character to play as. Anything less would just be a boring skin.

I know this is a bit late, but I'm currently doing my best to put CLASSIC Amy Rose into Sonic Mania. Currently it's just a sprite hack, but later I'm planning on adding custom moves such as a Hammer Tornado to replace the Spin Dash, a mid-air hammer swing like in the Advanced games, and a Hammer Spin to attack on the ground while still keeping her speed. As a side item, I'm thinking that she should be able to do things like breaking down destructible walls like Knuckles by using her hammer. I was also going to add some areas that only she can access to some of the levels, but I think I'm getting a bit too far ahead of myself here. I've started working on it a couple days ago, and put several hours into it each day to try to capture the Mania sprite style. As for the moveset stuff.. With the current state of Mania modding, editing code is either difficult or only temporary. However, with the rate at which it is advancing, I think there's a good chance that the custom move set will be possible in the near future.

Another thing to note: As of now, she will be replacing Sonic as a playable character. I'm hoping that it will be possible to add more character slots so that characters can be added without overwriting others, but it's not that big of a deal at the moment.
