Modding vs Denuvo.
People are saying denuvo makes the game un-moddable.
sega themselves gave us their blessing to mod to our hearts content.
guess what? mods are already existing. someone found the dev menu relatively easily. (just
requires editing the settings file even!)
and there's already a sprite mod in place!

in short, the game is still very much modable. does it excuse denuvo? no. it is still a worthless drm. but, it is possible to mod even with it around.

From my understanding the modding you can do is really simple. For example I don't think you can recreate levels and such but I could be wrong? Seems like all the mods are sprite based ones.

did you even read? modding is still possible. someone even managed to quite easily uncover the developers menu by adding a line to the settings file.
theres even a sprite mod that alters the spin dash graphics to look like sonic cds version.
it is very much possible.

Even DOOM 2016 had some very basic mods IIRC (before it had denuvo removed)

no, but it is still the begining of something.
if we can get sega to give us modding tools, this game can get a lot better.
aaron webber even said it MIGHT be a possibility on his twitter.

Denuvo only protects the main EXE file. Most mods are possible even with it. The main reason the Doom 2016 modding scene is so dire is that the engine itself is fairly mod hostile.

It mostly prevents stuff that needs to override hardcoded features (like the script extenders for Bethesda games.) How much can be modded will therefore vary heavily between games.

Still wish that Mod Workshop rumor was actually real.

Which those extenders are the beating heart of that mod community and show just how important "tampering " (IE reworking something you bought) enables real modding.

This lockdown is pretty hobbling to any major modifications and shouldn't be understated.
At the same time, Xander it's partially the dev's fault in regards to engine design.

XCOM 2, for instance, wouldn't need any EXE modding.
well... we already found the developers menu quite easily. so take of that what you will how modable the game is.
