Alternatively, let's get a new super form in the next game too.
Most of it is just watching Sonic roll through loops or tubes or whatever at high speed without any need for player input. The platforming sections are generally pretty short and don't have much to offer, and the badniks are complete chumps with negligible ability to damage you. Everyone seems to whine about the 15 second long rising water section in Act 2, but it's about the only part of the level that gives the player anything even remotely challenging or interesting to do.
Back on topic: For some reason I really like Oil Ocean, but I see a lot of people saying that it's either the worst or just the most forgettable zone of Sonic 2. It has a kick ass music, how can it be forgettable? I'm so happy it's back on Sonic Mania.
Also Metropolis Zone. Didn't have any issues with it, but maybe it's because I was a fool abusing Super Sonic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't really have a zone/level I dislike that everyone else loves. I don't think Hydrocity is hated, I see it as the best water level in the series.
Hydrocity is beautiful, but a bit weak in Mania. I wish they had taken more liberties with it as they did with Stardust Speedway.
Oh yeah I remember Sonic CD now.
I personally dislike every single zone of Sonic CD except for Palmtree Panic and Stardust Crusaders Speedway, because the rest are just a collection of BS incoming attacks that you can't see coming and travelling through time is really hard to pull off due to the level design being a wall hitting galore.
Everyone thinks the music is the best from the game, is not!
The level design is... okay, but the music is too repetitive to me.
It's one of the most disliked levels out of the classic games.
I'd say either Hill Top or Aquatic Ruin are the forgettable Zones in 2. Metropolis is only annoying because of its enemy placement, so yeah Super Sonic would make that unnoticable.
I thought Hydrocity was one of the most loved stages in 3.
i must agree (at least for marble zone, haven't played much of labyrinth) , while they aren't really built for speed, most people do overexaggerate how much you wait
although sonic 1's "three acts each zone" layout probably doesn't help much with people not liking these zones
