Super Sonic Maker?
Obviously Sonic Mania is a success but even so I think that since Sega and Nintendo are partners. It would seem logical to have a level maker.

If something like this was released I would certainly preorder that game. Imagine all the infinite Sonic levels people can make. Also imagine the creativity of super hard levels that would enrage people who fail it many times.

Just something to throw out there.

Sanix Maker
1: you can't own a word

2: it would be sonic maker not mario maker

3: it probably be safe for them to have a official modding tool that does the same thing but lets you add new stuff

Try making a game and putting the word 'scrolls' in its title, see how far you get ;)

just add a level editor to the pc version of sonic mania , even if it was a 5$ dlc it's would still be interesting.

Well, at least we have Debug Mode in Mania.

Creating a simple Sonic level editor is not as easy as a simple Mario level editor because of loops, multiple lavers of levels and stuff like that.

It would be more difficult than making Super Mario Maker levels, since Sonic & Mario have different gameplay mechanics. Sonic levels are about speed with loops & stuff.

It took me no longer then 1m to type the word scroll into the steam database for it to pull up 3 games on the first page with the word scroll in it. Yes you cannot own a word unless it is completely made up and every single case that has been taken to court on it has lost.

Copyright Rules are VERY fast and loose, even if something looks very similar they have to be 100% the same in order to win a case against it.

So if they made a game called: Sonic Maker but used Different Materials, had different elements and menus then they could not get sued and lose. Great example? creators of Tera against NCsoft. Ncsoft lost and their similarities were much much closer.

Like Skullking said though it is very bs, I mean even if bethy wasn't to win the case, if it's an indie game they're going after those independant developers wouldn't have the money to take them to court anyway, thus they can still control what words are used in small titles if they have the money to threaten lawsuit

I remember reading an article somewhere about Apple trying to sue some small coffee shop in germany for having its logo as an apple

I don't know how it all works in copyright but I do know big companies have at least tried to own words or even something as stupid as using an apple as your logo

In the end though, would a sonic game called Super Sonic Maker be sued by nintendo? my guess is probably not, then again I don't know, Nintendo do love to shut down fan made projects and do like to protect their intellectual property at all costs

Sonic mania maker dlc with forced character start would be alright. But I'd like more characters And options to increase boss hp and stuff.

I know of a project like this that's being worked on. It's called Open Surge.
