i didnt buy in for another f2p experience.
though overall it would probably be best for Valve in terms of profit, as it always would have been. kind of why the claims of greed totally baffle me as im sure Valve knew that from the start considering their mountains of data and experience themselves.
Yeah, I'm not "that" Xaenz, but rather a fan of his avatar/name, so I sort of copied his looks.
Glad that made you laugh :)
As of the subject on the thread, indeed, depending on the F2P model it would be better/worse. Considering it's valve though, I would assume they would make it like Dota 2 and have only cosmetics for lootboxes and have non-grindy progression or even all cards for free from the start.
That's my guess.
This isn't a duplicate account, I just changed my avatar and nickname to someone's elses because I liked it and wanted to be cool too.
There are many more "Xaenz"'s on steam, and I'm sure there are many more people with this same avatar. There is nothing against having same avatar/nickname in steam's forum rules, and that makes sense, considering it's impossible to enforce, because there are millions of users, hence repetition of names is ought to happen.
F-Fine, and you? ( ͡☉⁄ ⁄ ͜⁄ ͜ʖ̫⁄ ⁄ ͡☉)
When CSGO F2P was released I stopped playing and switched to Artifact. But it was because I enjoy Artifact a lot at the moment and it's new and exciting.
I don't really care if a game is F2P. The game has to be good and fun. A payment mode is always good to keep cheaters and bots away. And for Artifact you also buy cards. You can't do that aspect with F2P. Logically.
I can imagine at some point that there will be a free version. Why not. Only I would never make dependent on it whether I invest time in a game.
As I said, having duplicated avatar/names isn't against the rules, but he is free to report me.
Hell, even steam itself provides its own generic avatars in games that millions of people can use, like TF2 avatars and such.
i guess it will depend on if valve believes you did it solely to harass or troll him.
People were worried about cheaters and bots in CSGO as you said, but they had 2 things to combat that.
First was the "premium" account which basically meant you would get access to premium servers to play only with premium players, which is basically a paid game.
The other is the trust factor, which means that cheaters are likely to play against other cheaters and so on. In fact they are aiming to use that trust factor across all steam games, not only Valve games.
The future looks bright!
I don't see how copying his looks could be seen as harassment, if anything he should be flattered that I liked his looks this much! And it's not like I'm trying to impersonate him or anything, I never said I'm the same as him.
But I wonder what will happen to Artifact when Mythgard comes out on Steam in a few months. I'm currently playing it in Alpha and enjoying myself very much. I'm not going to link anything here, because that would be off topic, but there are some gameplay vids on YouTube already.
There is another issue here. Artifact is to hard to play. They could have make a little bit more easy for players. The fact that they want to make for hardcore players was a huge mistake. No game will see progress if they only have Nightmare mode.
