Worth It For Bot Play?
I'm not interested in buying cards to compete competitively and I'm not all that bothered about casual draft play either but I do like the look of the mechanics so I was wondering if the bot matches makes it worthwhile or is it just too threadbare to consider especially with no progression and the overall price?

Many thanks!

If you're interested in Artifact for solely playing against the AI I would not recommend this. It's extremely bare bones at the moment and while the AI doesn't seem stupid it isn't doing anything too spectacular.

I'd wait for some more pizzazz is you're on the fence for $20. It's certainly not a good buy for single-player only affairs.

The AI isn't very good. It does not know how certain cards funtion and just plays what is aviable.
For an example the AI does not use Ravenous mass ( a card that sacrifices units to get stronger). It just summons a 1/1 blob and forgets to use its ability, wasting an entire creep plus lots of mana.
It is not terrible but if you build combo decks there is a good chance the Ai will not know how to play with that deck.
The AI is best used with straightforward decks like red decks or green decks with creep rush.

not really. Bots are a cake walk, they are usefull for trying out deck builds you're experimenting with. But seeing as you'll need to sink a bunch of extra cash into getting enough cards to experiment it really isn't worth it.

You can do the event with cool premade decks and the event will change all the time. Also once you buy the game you and use your tickets and you will have enough cards to have fun in the casual constructed. I recommend getting it. :BuffaloofLies:

They do not want to play against other people however. They are asking about the bots/AI play.

So far, I spent 33 hours against the AI with the constructed event decks (there are 6 of them in the current event).
For total newbie, like myself, it can be fun as you will slowly improve and win with more and more regularities.
May be I'm slow but I feel I won't be ready for casual before another 20-30h.
I don't know the events turn over (once every too weeks ?), but so far, so good.

Event is over in 2 days. Guess that is also when they deploy the first patch. Would only make sense to end the event on patchday.

Now that is just pure stupidity at it's finest.

I wouldn't say strictly for bot play but what I would suggest is testing your decks against bots to refine your decks or make some changes and then play those decks in Casual Play: Casual Constructed. You can also play Phantom Draft in Casual Play and try out cards you do not own. These modes are free. There are perfect run counters for each. There are many Youtube videos that explain game play so if you are unsure, I would just research those first.

The AI is great for learning how to play the game. You can choose from 8 preconstructed decks, or you can make your own decks using cards from the basic set and any cards you get from opening the packs that come with the game. As for the bots, you can choose from 21 preconstructed decks or you can build them a deck using cards that you don't own. There are 3 difficulties, basic, standard and hard. You can probably get a lot of mileage out of this mode. I think I played it for a total of 5 hours before I decided to try out the featured mode "Call to Arms", and that's what i've been playing for the last 20 hours that I've spent in-game. I think you would enjoy this mode because you're on an even playing field with everybody since everyone is choosing from the same 6 preconstructed decks. It was going to end in like 2 days, but they extended the event until January 10th.
