negative reviews are from people who want their f2p skinner box
As opposed to the p2p skinnerbox that this is? You can't really engage in much content at the moment unless you continue to pay into valves money vacuum.

If you are going to use the term skinnerbox (skinnerware) then understand its meaning.

The mechanics - Power ups - Energy Bar - Speed Ups - Cosmetics.

Artifact has none of these mechanics.

As to "pays into valves money vacuum". Strange term to use for someone who has 1298 games in their Steam library. You obviously don't mind filling the coffers yourself.

I wouldn't really consider cosmetics a Skinner box, simply because they have no impact on the gameplay. It's just something pretty to look at, which I enjoy quite a lot in online games like this if the base game is good. I think I've spent at least 1000 bucks on DotA 2 cosmetics split between the market and the DotA store, and I don't regret a single penny. Call it 'dress up' if you want, but customization is fun when done right.

When people refer to skinnerbox, skinnerware etc they are referring to Richard Garfields Manifesto but most probably never actually read it. It is just the latest buzzword.

My apologies. I wasn't aware there was a rather specific denotation and origin of this word. I was going off the context people were using it in earlier in the discussion. With regards to that, then yes I suppose cosmetic services could potentially be a skinnerbox, but I don't think this is the case for Dota, at least not anymore since the change to you always receiving one of every normal tier item from a chest before getting duplicates.
Don't buy now. Wait a month or two to see what Valve does. Kind of regretting buying the rest of the cards I didn't own today but... meh, it was a gamble. We'll see
Valve also went silent again on twitter after doing so well last week by communicating. Oh well

They tweeted last week. How often should a company have to talk to their users? It's not even been a week! the sky is not falling, this is just a video game
