Punch! Home & Landscape Design Essentials v19

Punch! Home & Landscape Design Essentials v19

Plant scales are way off
So I own the Punch! Home & Landscape Design Studio v21, which is like this version but more stable and with a few more features.

My 2 main complaints:
1) Plants are low-resolution 2D billboards from the 90s
2) The scale of the plant are W-A-Y off. It's like their PNGs but not cropped properly; they say 6' high, but are clearly less than 3' as can be proven by stacking them on top of each other via offset. 9' wall takes 4 1/2 to make it to the top. But yeah don't be surprised to see a shrub towering over your tree, despite the fact you own both already in real life and yeah that's not even close to their actual scale to each other XD

I bought this primarily to do landscaping design for my current home and while it's going to work, the 3d visualization is just so far off scale it's ridiculous. Also, they cut off the trunks of some plants, like the Royal Purple Smoke Tree, which usually has a trunk, but this looks like they cut the image at the branches and made it look like a bush. Sure it's a dwarf-like tree, but it still has a trunk to it.

Since I bought this from Punch's official website I can't review it here, but it's very odd how 1998 this program is, both visually and via controls. I use to use home design software from back then and this is nearly identical. The ease of use just isn't there. There are so many video games that make home decorating and design easy, yet we can't export a working blueprint in them. Then there is this, where you're putting together a replica of your house, and laying out your landscape is a tedious job, but at least you can export a working blueprint in the end.

I kind of wish I could replace the tree and shrub art with my own images (since we're stuck with billboard and the free plant 3d objects online are lacking outside of generic "apple tree", or at least be able to modify the images provided to fix them up a bit...
