I mean, I BARELY got all the way here, and now this? Am I missing something? The crows are erratic as hell and just do whatever they want.

it is possible. Extremely difficult, but feasible.
go on the right next to the warp door (don't jump on it!),
and try to jump on the crows, with a good dose of chance, you'll get it.

I was just about to post about this. I can pretty consistently ride the first crow to the top of the screen, and then jump onto the top-most crow, but jumping off of him, I always just barely miss the ledge.

I feel like I need a new strategy...

Okay so I did it after putting the game down and coming back. I have some advice. So if you stay all the way to the right and just dodge birds until you have all four going after you, you'll have a better shot. The idea is to wait for a bird to start swooping from the left towards the right at you. If you jump during this time they will fly past you over you offscreen. If you wait for them to swoop back from right to left, they dip low enough that you can jump on them and continue the bounce as they ascend. Just be careful because if you get to the right side of them they freak out and turn around.

I suggest practicing with just the first bird to get the idea of letting it swoop past you and getting it on the return trip to see what I mean. They have to go low, so don't jump on their return.

Edit: Also for anyone trying this: You don't get anything but some text. No tumors or unlocks.

Hmm... I can consistently ride just the first one all the way to the top, but I'm generally killed by the top of the screen before I can get any farther left. Does riding the full flock of crows easily remedy this?

Also, regarding the reward...

I feel like, since I already put this much time into it, I may as well finish it out. lol

Yes, I ended up riding one crow a tiny bit and then a second one the rest of the way. They managed to trade off without me doing anything special. Getting them into the flock was the only way I could get that high (and I did twice, just died in the gas the first time).
