If you used Cortana instead, that has no relevance to VoiceAttack. The speech recognition training does, but if by "pausing" you mean often needing to repeat phrases during the training, the speech recognition engine is having difficulty hearing you.
There are a number of suggestions in case of speech recognition issues here: https://forum.voiceattack.com/smf/index.php?topic=1635.0
Not sure which "other speech recognition system" you're referring to, but if it's Speech Platform 11, you'll want make sure you have the 64bit runtime installed.
Pausing - during the speech recognition trainings (where one has to read sentences provided by the system), there is a "pause" button, which sometimes activates on it's own, via a bug or glitch, making the effort to read the sentence go to waste. I've done some google research, and apparently people encountered the same problem numerous times.
Repeating - in worst cases i was able to pass every sentence by the third try, unless the "pause" button spoiled my try
I was trying to dictate to Windows, with and without cloud access, and to Google. I admit i'm not 100% sure if those are all different speech recognition systems, but they definitely worked better than VA.
On Monday i'll try to come into possession of a modern mic, one of better quality than those "noname" ones that i currently hold. Maybe that will help solve the problem.
Thanks for the link provided, the things from that list that i've tried still haven't helped.
Maybe tomorrow i'll again find some enthusiasm to try to deal with the issue.
Cheers!
