2. Check that your game sound is not leaking out of headphones into the mic by making a quick recording and listening back to it yourself (lower the game volume if that's happening).
3. My best trick for improving recognition is to look for what words are being misheard by VA and then add them as dictionary exclusions (you can do this in VA's settings). ie If "boost" was being misheard as "goose" I would add "*goose*" to the ignore list.
It has got somewhat better since I originally posted. I think I originally had the mics set somewhat too high , I've ran through the training a few more times and for the sake of using a voice pack rather than dictation I've increased the command weight to 90 and lowered the neccessary confidence. I'll obviously dial those in more as I play.
Also there are some super-helpful super-users in VA's web forums if you want help to make custom commands.
