What is team/party play like in PvE?
Wondering if it is fun to play with friends basically. Can we share quests? is loot available for each player? Do the mobs scale up vs a group of players? etc etc...

How is teamplay implemented? - fingers crossed that it is done well!

You can party up to leech grinding exp and, if you're close enough in level, share in grinding loot. And... that's about it.
Oh there's supposedly a high-end dungeon or something that no one cares about.
Hi, Dhansak. There are areas in BDO designed for single player, duo team and for three people. If you're in a cooperative group with a friend, it's important to pick an area designed for two people because those areas will:
a) let both people get loot from kills, and
b) may have a mechanic designed for two people.

For instance, there's an area called Imps in Elvia designed for two people. Can one person solo it? Yes, but they won't get full benefit because the mechanic is to be able to loot an item which lets you kill faster for ten minutes. But there's a ten minute cool down for the item. So if you're alone every ten minutes you kill slowly, but if you're in a duo team each of you alternates so that you're constantly killing more quickly.

I have been sitting on the fence about recommending this to friends for multiplayer - sounds as if it's worth a look for casual grinding together anyway.

Is it very important to be similar character levels? Our small group never play the same games to the same degree so we are inevitably scattered over a wide range level-wise.

players characters have to be within 10 levels of each other or you can't loot (stops players scamming boosting other players too much) because you also share exp gains as well as the loot :)

I just realized you didn't get an answer for part of your question. With regard to monster scaling, they don't scale to the player but rather are of a set difficulty by area.

The game has an AP (attack power) and DP (defense power) rating. As your gear improves, your AP and DP will increase, and then you need to find areas with monsters more suitable to your AP and DP range.

This said, there's something called Season Servers going on right now. If you make a character on one of those, it'll help you level your characters to 61 and will also (more importantly) help you get very good gear that would be otherwise very difficult to acquire on a non-Season mechanic.

Most of the best cooperative areas assume you have at least season-level gear and are approximately level 61. Also, it's hard to know if you like a class unless you take it up to level 61 because the combat mechanics are only gradually unlocked, and even at level 56 you're unlikely to get a good sense of if you like the class.

If you and your friends try the game, you'll probably mostly solo the first several days while you level up to 61 and get better gear, but after that you should have lots of opportunities and fun to play together.

I just started the about a week ago and created a Season character as my first entry to the game. Wow - I had no idea you had to get to such a high level to fully have a shot at seeing what a class was really like - duly noted! Also good to know that's where the good coop areas are intended to be level and AP/DP wise.

If I may slip in one more question please -re the gear you earn with your season character. Do you get to keep it at season end? Is the kit transferable to non season created alts?

The season gear is yours permanently, once season is over you can exchange the pen tuvala that you get into tet boss gear, which is equivalent to pen tuvala. never had pen tuvala so I don't know if you can swap it between characters only know of the regular gear being interchangeable
Zen's is correct about the gear being yours permanently, Dhansak. As for the second half of your question: "Is the kit transferable to non-season created alts?"

The armor and jewelry are. Weapons (main weapon, awakening weapon and sub weapon) are class specific. This means that if your season character is a Guardian, and your non-season alt is a witch, you can transfer the armor and jewelry to your witch if you wish, but the weapons aren't useful to the witch.

This said, there's something called character tagging. This means that at a significant cost in silver you can link two characters so that they share the armor, jewelry AND weapons. My main character is a Guardian, and she has super good weapons and fairly good armor and jewelry. But I also like my witch character. I tagged my witch to my guardian, so now my witch has gear exactly as good as my guardian.

But you can only tag two characters, and if they're tagged, they can't do a life skill called trading. To me that's okay, but you should be aware of that limitation.

In absence of tagging you need to make or purchase weapons, jewelry and armor for each alt (unless you want the alts to share the armor and jewelry in which case you can pass them between each other).

I have at least a dozen characters, but sadly most of mine were made before Seasons. This means that while my newer characters have nice weapons and armor, most of my pre-season characters have absolute junk :( I got around this with my witch, of course, by using the character tagging feature.

If you have a non-season character, you may be in the same boat as me. But hopefully you only have that problem with one alt and not a dozen *laughs* :)

Thank you Zen and Karna5 - it's good to know that the benefits of armour and jewellery can be shared!

Tagging characters sounds interesting too - will wait and see if I get an excellent weapon that would be worthy of using this mechanic.

Meanwhile I have only 2 alts (both non-season and very low level) - made just to see what their play styles were like. Now of course I understand I won't really get to see that till they are high level. Will wait and see - after all my main character (season Guardian) is only about level 21 - I have way to go lol.
