Crafter Name

I've only gotten as far as the character creation screen, but came on a small annoyance:

My "crafter name" is something randomly generated like "Adventurer92H8." It looks like a bot name--But I can't change it. If I try to choose a Family name, it just copies my random bot-looking name. Do I have to pay to choose a crafter/family name for myself? Did I miss a prompt somewhere? Will this be a problem in the future? Am I stuck with it permanently?

It's a thing so you don't have to spend forever making a Family name straight off the bat.
It'll be Adventurer516541 until you get in game and hit enter, at which point it'll get to to make a proper name.
It's a QOL thing that they don't really explain that well.
