I'm a new player: Is setting up hotkeys/hotbars necessary? And does it matter what skills I choose before awakening?

Hello, new player here. I've just started black desert online last night and I chose to play warrior since the idea of using a greatsword appealed to me. However, I'm still trying to get an understanding of combos but at the moment it feels like I'm button mashing or doing very little damage with the sword and shield. Which raises me to the question. Is it necessary to setup hotkeys/hotbars and have skills on them or is it better to try and memorize the combo through the real time inputs?

As a warrior, is it fine to level any spell before awakening or should I reset and follow a specific guide. If so, is resetting free?

Reseting anytime before lvl 56 is free to do at anytime when out of combat. Feel free to try anything you wish, But most players will follow a basic skill guide. Some players later on will choice to use different moves based on playstyle if the class is got enough free skill points.

It is not necessary to hotkey most moves. Some classes require some skills to be hotkey'd. Some skill will cancel into and out of other skills if hotkey'd and some combos will only be able to be done if they are on bars.

I would check out the bdo warrior discord or youtube guides to help out more.
