Fairies?

I'm honestly stuck on the fairy quest where you have to find the petals to give to the fairy queen. Do I have to be patient to get the petals? I'm not really sure, so any tips would be great.

"To obtain Laila's Petal, place a Special Honey Jar at unstable crevices found outside the Kamasylve Temple area. You can also get Laila's Petal by defeating monsters, Gathering or Fishing. "

This is one of the things AFK fishing is quite useful for. Seems to have about the same drop rate per hour as active gathering, and both seem vastly superior to hoping for random drops from mobs.
