Problems making a new account
When I start the steam version of black desert it said I needed to make a new account, but there is a problem - I already have an account.
But the thing is, I never really got around to playing on it.
So no biggy, I'll just make a new account - but, cant make a new account, email is taking says steam.
I cant make a new BD account via steam because my primary email is tied to my old account.
Hmm, maybe I can delete my old one account or change email on it?
So I log into the website and yes, turns out you can!
But hold on, they need my ID?
"The only time we need an ID attached is if you want to delete the account when there is a game pass attached to your email. So if you purchased any game pass (Starters Package, Travelers Package, Explorers Package, Conquerors Package, Etc), or if you were gifted a package we will require proper identification.
"A photo of your photo ID card, taken in front of today's physical newspaper clearly showing the date, or over your screen showing your open ticket needs to be added as an attachment to the ticket."
It's the same story for an email change.

How convoluted it this?
All of this just so I can use my primary email? It would be easier to just set up another email specifically for this game.
For the record, I can log into my exciting gaijin War Thunder account via the steam War Thunder client, it just asks if I wanna use my steam account or an exciting account, so whats the problem here?

I don't suppose your old email is like "oldemail@gmail.com"? If it is then you can tell Kakao that your email is for example old.email@gmail.com when you sign up on Steam. Gmail treats these addresses as the same, whereas Kakao treats them as different.

I will just say it says right on the store page:
PRE-EXISTING USERS
The Steam version of Black Desert Online requires the purchase of the game from Steam as well as the creation of a new Black Desert Online account. Pre-existing Black Desert Online accounts created from methods other than Steam will not be able to play via Steam.

It's been like this since it came to Steam and they're never going to change it. And yeah, that's the only way to get the account deleted. It's how they do it.

I'm fine with making a new account since I never used my old one (which I also stated in my original post), its just these overy convoluted hurdles I have to jump over just in order to retain my old email that ticked me off.
I know security is in order, but holy cannoli it feels like I am trying make a gold deposit from fort knox here.
Forget about going through a 14 days ID control, I'll just make a new email and have it sorted in 5 minutes.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Nah, my old email is older than time itself, its @hotmail if you can believe that, but I use outlook to check my mail.
Hmm, now that you mentioned it, maybe I could do something with that? Didn't outlook let you do something similar?

Outlook aliases? Might be worth trying

That work a charm! Made an outlook alias and I got my verification via my normal email, thank you for the suggestion Proctor Cain!
I have my new account set and ready to go now.
