can't add friend, confused, please help

So I'm on the Pearl Abyss BDO launcher. My friend plays BDO via Steam. I keep trying to add him, but it keeps saying 'cannot find character'. After speaking with someone in game, I discovered that somehow I'm on South East Asia servers, despite being in the Uk and having my reigion set to NA/EU? I'm really confused on why I can't add him. On his server select screen, it says 'EU' before each server name, and it doesent for me. Can a veteran help me out here

yes, so it turns out that the south east asia servers and the EU/NA servers run on a completely different game client. Meaning, in order to play with people in the EU/NA reigions, you have to redownload the game from the EU/Na specific wesbite. ITs frustrating how they didnt specify on the south east asia client website which version of the game i was downloading. Heres a link to the website where you can download the NA/EU client. make sure to contact support about this, if you are in the UK you should be on the EU?NA servers not the SEA servers.

i forgot to mention, but unfortunately to play on a different client means to play on a whole other account. So you wont be able to save your progress from the SEA version of the game to the EU/NA version.
