Settings wont save
Settings wont save.

New player. I configured key binds and stuff, but when I played again, the key binds were default. All settings had reverted to default.

I did exit the game properly (numerous times while testing).

This is not the issue but I wanted to throw this in: WARNING: Apparently the brilliant devs programmed this game to save settings only on proper exit. After configuring your settings, exit the game to save settings! If they'll save at all.

This is a quick test if you are experiencing similar issue... you don't have to select server and load character to test setting-save failure. Do this...
1) Play from steam
2) Start game from launcher
3) Settings (start/quit/Settings page)
4) Performance Optimization
5) Enable "miss effect" (or toggle any setting as a test)
6) Apply
7) Confirm
8) Quit
Open game, "miss effect" is not enabled.

Support suggested some fixes which are standard bad-support... sadly common now days.

The following is my response to supports suggestions about what might be wrong:

1 - "A misplaced or missing gameoption.txt file"

If the file is missing, it is recreated automatically. You didn't know?

2 - "Your documents folder being read/write protected, preventing the game from accessing or updating the gameoption.txt file"

This is not the issue. I have verified read/write access is enabled, and proven it by removing the file - it is recreated during launch.

3 - "You are not running the game with administrator privileges."

Steam launched. User is running as admin. Checking for admin rights is a simple thing.. proper code would warn the player in-game. In any case, it is not the issue.

4 - "The game folder is not being excluded by your antivirus or firewall"

This is not the issue. Again, if this were the issue, the file would not be recreated with the default content.

4 - "BitDefender’s Safe Files Option, which can block access to your documents folder."

BitDefender is not installed.

5 - "OneDrive sync is enabled on your gameoption.txt file."

Onedrive is not running. If a common, helpful program like Onedrive were interfering with your program, you're code is inadequate. You really should remove this "issue" as it embarrasses you to even suggest the possibility. I mean really what are you saying? Anyone using Onedrive must make special accommodations for your game? You're saying that your game is not the "best service available".

When your game has issues accessing data, it should advise the player with a link to proper info (not this list of nonsense suggestions).

You have successfully degraded your dev and support status from unknown to inadequate.

You'll have to try harder, try updating your 'ancient folk wisdom'

Again. Why are my settings not saving?

** Update ** After a week of support asking a few more questions, 5 emails instead of 1, they escalated to another team. The ticket is open, but I cannot reply to it, I have no idea what is going on. No contact after several days.

Some of mine don't save either, FSR in particular. Finally got Remastered visuals to save so I consider that a win.

Settings not saving from the main menu options (start menu before logged into server) is well known and they have never stuck in the many yrs i have played.

If you want your settings to stick you have to set them when loaded into a server and logged into a character, every single character you make has their own sets of settings/keybinds, this is done so that the different classes can be setup individually to better suit the class as not all settings swap to well between all the classes i.e keybinds

The second thing you need to know is settings will not store on a character until you are beyond a certain character lvl (devs recently lowered the lvl so you will have to check yourself what the new lvl is)
