If you think it is bad now you should of seen launch and the first few years lol. Its a joke now could never reach full TET/PEN boss gear personally. Now they just give you a WHOLE set for free for just reaching max lvl noob gear from the one time quest.
blue protocol is not that good.. i played the japanese version already.. its just like a slightly better new world...biggest con for me is the combat system.. its so simple and boring and doesnt look like they would wanna change that. its supposed to be like that.
and chrono odyssey looks great, but we know almost nothing about it, could turn out trash, same as throne and liberty
people need to stop looking up to mmorpgs they dont know much about
FF14 is great though.. but for me its only good for raiding. grinding feels useless in that game to me, so when i dont feel like doing some great, challenging boss fights with great music and great visuals then i also always leave eventually...definitely one of the best mmo's though
Thing is because of that those dungeon/raid type mmorpgs dont have endless replay value to me
It can all depend on many factors which game someone favors
tbh this is exactly why I rather play moba or fps nowadays instead if mmos, or just play fromsoft games if I want to play arpg. I know, different genre, can't compare at all, but it just seems like no one knows or wants to actually make a good game anymore when it comes to mmo. Also free from grindfest and enhance hell.
you dont enjoy grinding? cause thats all mmorpgs are for me when i try to explain it in a simple way.. raiding and/or grinding
i feel like there are many good mmorpg games existing for different tastes...back then i thought BDO is only running in circles killing mobs...and the good combat system is kinda wasted in this game cause it doesnt offer "good" pve content.. nowadays im tired of dungeons and raids and find BDO is a great experience.. lifeskilling too though.. not only running in circles
then im sure i will also have a phase again in future where i dont feel like playing a mmo again and will go back to FPS and/or league of legends or dota
the mmo landscape isnt as depressive as some people make it seem to be.. unless they dont like grinding at all.. then you only have FF14 and guild wars 2 i would say
im actually pretty confused how those kind of opinions seem to be so popular though
im unemployed since around 2 years, and im playing a BIG amount of my time..and i still dont find enough time to play everything. even just in the mmo genre.. and im interested in so much more genres
just bringing this up because there seem to be many people out there which are living more normal lives and still dont have much clue on what to play and think everything is bad
not necessarily meaning you with this though.. since i dont know you much
I think it's the overall experience of current mmos have, loads of rng, setbacks and bottlenecks.
I've also been unemployed for over a year now due to depression, yet I find all the mmos now just not worth the time to get invested in, since every changes they make will potentially render your current achievement nothing. Or maybe I just have no motivation cuz im depressed, idk.
I used to play blade and soul, the dungeon system with the combat in that game was perfect fun, until I was gated by rng drops to upgrade my weapon for new dungeons. I played as a tank while I don't even have enough aggro to tank bosses against the dps on my team.
Bdo is the same, rng everything, even pet upgrades, and worse of all degrading on fails. While people say that you can just buy everything on market, it takes years for me to get one pen acc. I used to love grinding, but if a game needs you to grind 4 hours a day for years, idk bout other ppl but i am bound to grow to hate it.
Even though mmos are suppose to give u serotonin for every success breakthrough, whether it's successful enhance, loot drops or clearing dungeons, the amount of work is just not equal to the happiness anymore in the mmos nowadays. That's just my 2 cents, you might feel differently, but i'm glad we shared our opinions with each other nonetheless.
do you love to lifeskill in a circle nonstop? then come back, it's good.
do you love p2w and tons of money dumps into QoL (they break it so you can use your wallet to fix it problems)? then come back, it's great at these.
do you love support that takes 3-4 weeks to respond and will not give you what you paid for in the pearl shop after that wait? then come back, the support is exactly like this.
do you love to log in one day and all the high end geared players just arbitrarily gained 50% value on their high end gear that will now takes you an extra 2 months per piece to get now because of cron price increase? then come back, they're doing this as a huge "♥♥♥♥ you" to the influx of new and returning players.
do you have 200+ buckaroos to burn on day 1 of your reinstall? if not, don't bother.
anyway i really like this game but it is still way over monetized and fairly scummy but about 20% less scummy than when kakao ran it, if that's any consolation.
yea i fully understand your point of view..at times i feel the same
but right now im really into BDO and i also love all the RNG.. even though of course at times i also hate it.. RNG is always a love/hate relationship for me
you played lost ark? that game everything really takes forever and u barely make progress in the short run..but it also offers 0 freedom and keeps locking actual content like raids behind itemlevel and gear...and the only people which actually have a good time are p2w players and people which play 8 hours per day..because those are the people which control the good groups in the game..when u dont keep up u get gatekept from everything and need to buy busses or have a miserable time trying to complete the content you need to complete..sitting in lobbies all the time and then when a raid starts there is also a bigger chance it will just fail.. and repeat that on alts afterwards..
i loved the game at start too, but i grew to hate it so much, the only mmorpg i ever started to really hate.. others i just became bored of
BDO is different to me because it offers so much freedom...its all just a grind which takes forever but i can choose what to grind
Maybe my opinion on it will change in 1000 hours though.. who knows..but i predict i will just get bored eventually and leave for a while.. then maybe come back at some point
Hope ur depression becomes better!
I approve Nick Nolte's ironic rant
Game is not that hard, I don't know what all the drama is about once you get under the hood and look around.
