The only problem of using the market as storage/bank is sometimes it isn't accesible so you have to wait to access it if you need money or a material you have stored there.
And recommended! It’s a very nice place to store pots, food, items, mats and more with a volume limit. Unless you’re storing your caphras in there instead of your inventory (which you shouldn’t do be because they have volume not weight, which clogs the market) in the thousands, you have a nice extra stash for stuff that way. Definitely recommended!
For example timber seems to weight pretty fast, it takes 0.50VT weight for each and you get several for every chopping
There are 2 different weight systems in the game. LT and VT. VT is strictly for the CM warehouse while LT is pretty much used on everything else. Items such as accesseries, armor, weapons, etc have a much higher VT proportionally to commodity items such as timber and ores. So a simple ring may take up the same amount of room in the CM warehouse as 200 logs.
Indeed, I am liking it a lot.
