2. MSQ and the the map indicators are inaccurate as far as optimal level for challenge and for quick leveling. Due to the numerous buffs that the classes have received over the years as well as gear that you can attain even on season servers, there is about a 5-10 level gap between what is suggested and where you could or should be going. This somewhat carries on into the mid game where the best/most efficient grind zones are where you are so over geared for the zone that you one tap everything.
There are a few more challenging bosses to fight and areas with more elaborate mechanics, but those come somewhat later and I don't know if it's going to be enough to hook a hardcore soul's like player for a lack of a better term.
Then in that case you need to grind in these areas.
01) Ash Forest
02) Elvia Realm: Orc Camp
03) Gyfin Underground
04) Crypt of Resting Thoughts
05) City of The Dead
06) Tungrad Ruins
You'll spend most of your time general-grinding, though, and the unfortunate thing is whilst this can be 'made hard' - e.g. try grinding gyfin under with <300dp - there's not much reward or incentive to do it, and a hefty potential penalty for dying. Given that you need to grind for 100s/1000s of hours, most players default to grinding the kind of spots they can do it watching Netflix whilst repeating a combo, rather than going at it sweaty, twitch-reflex style.
If you really do want to go at it sweaty, twitch-reflex, the content is definitely there (at even the highest gear score, dehkia ash forest can certainly quality as a challenging grind); but I'd think the main current issue is that this content isn't going to massively reward your effort doing it, rather than absence of content. So there is some kinda hope this will be fixed, but I wouldn't hold your breath. You can certainly find the challenge, but the game will funnel you towards the easymode grind based on how it's rewarded meaning 100 hours spam-same-4-ability grind is probably only about 20% less rewarding than 100 hours hardcore, perfect comboing, broken keyboard grind.
The question that is to be asked is; are you having fun or not?
Nothing in BDO is souls-like. This game has flashy combat, but at its core it's a lifeless grind simulator.
Don't play this game if you want PvE difficulty. All of the Open-World boss fights are boring, the dungeons are fun but poor rewards so it's rather dead content until you can do Elvia versions. Black Shrine is the closest you'll get to difficult, but its rewards are locked behind a weekly.
As Karna5 pointed out.
A Seasonal player with 241/243/305 would be pummeled in those areas.
Barring WooTheWinner secrets.
A difference between beginner Imps and those areas listed above are significant.
I remember when I first started, was exploring, and had +6 Talis Armor.
I stumbled through Tshira, which isn't a difficult spot, but I nearly died fast there just running through the mobs trying to find my way out. LOL
I figured, if the OP wanted to see harder areas with 241/243/305 gear, they could explore those spots and make a decision on if it is still too easy. 😊
