As for Garmoth, yeah, they recently changed it so you don't get loot like you do with the other bosses. Down the stairs from the node manager in that area there's an NPC with an artist's easel. Talk to him and take a quest (up to three times per week) to kill Garmoth. ONLY if you have that quest do you get credit for killing Garmoth, and then you talk to the artist to get the loot as a quest reward.
As for AP/DP requirements, it depends a lot on the world boss and the class you're using.
In my experience, an awakened witch can fight nearly any world boss if she's careful regardless of her DP because she won't get hit if you evade properly. This said, even with awakened witch I try to have at least in the 300s DP to avoid getting one-shot killed by most attacks. At around 322 I find you can survive all but the hardest attacks, and around 370s DP you can start tanking some hits which would normally one shot you. At 401+ DP you can survive even SB Karanda's hardest hits if you have more than 5000 hit points as well.
World bosses in general are more about technique than DP (though I do highly recommend at least 322 DP). For most of my boss alts I try to have 322 or slightly better DP, and that's enough. If you have less it's incredibly easy to die a lot to single hits.
As for AP, I try to have at least 230 AP on my boss alts, and that seems to work fine.
Edit: I like Awakened Witch so much for boss alts I made three of them. One witch is tagged with my main character (guardian), and the other two witches are pure boss alts (one permanently parked at Nouver, and another used to be parked at Karanda but is now moved to Land of Morning Light as a boss blitz alt, not that I use her much since I don't like boss blitz. She may eventually return to the mainland). I keep a ranger parked at Kzarka and a Maehwa parked at Kutum. And I keep a draconia parked at Garmoth. I no longer park an alt at Karanda (even though SB Karanda is my favorite world boss) because my characters log out at Calpheon, and they can get to Karanda in under 5 minutes. So I just take whoever I feel like it to Karanda when it's time.
Blood Nouver: Even though this world boss can very easily one shot kill you if you get caught on red tiles or get directly hit, it's a fair fight because most hits that can kill you are warned by red tiles. So you just make sure to get off red tiles as fast as you can. Blood Nouver is hard but best fought using a fleet-footed class who can easily dance off red tiles and dodge to its sides to avoid face-on attacks.
TC Kutum: This is by far the most unfair world boss. You get lethal debuffs which require you to check the color of the debuff and go into the corridor with the matching light above it to get cured. However, I can never see the colors, so it's virutally impossible for me to get cured. And my maehwa often dies due to the unfair mechanic. This said, TC Kutum can drop a nice heart for your sub weapon, so as long as you don't mind dying 14 times to a stupid mechanic, it's worthwhile.
Nightmare Kzarka: This one took me a long time to find the pattern for when to hide behind pillars. It's another world boss where I suspect you're supposed to have effects opacity set to maximum, but I can't play that way, so there's virtually no warning when Nightmare Kzarka is about to unleash the automatic death blasts. However, what I do with my ranger is when I see red tiles filling half the room, I hide behind the pillars until I see the smoke-rain fall, and after the smoke rain I come out of hiding and shoot again. There's supposed to be an actual warning of the death blatss, but those warnings are invisible if you don't have effects opacity enabled.
SB Karanda: This is my favorite monster in all of BDO. The warnings for when to dodge and when to attack are a combination of visual cues (red tiles) and sound (whirling winds or repeated laughter). If you pay attention carefully, even a 309 DP character can do this battle, though again the higher the DP the less likely you are to die in one shot if you make a mistake or if you let the side spawn harpies gang up on you by accident. Just keep moving, and the side spawn is less likely to kill you even with 309 DP.
The only world boss I actually hate is TC Kutum, but I still do it sometimes and accept the fact that I'm going to die more than a dozen times in the fight. I rarely die anymore to any of the other world bosses because the other world bosses are fair fights.
post post script: SB Karanda can drop a nice heart which is almost as good as Garmoth's heart and seems to have a significantly better drop rate. I've gotten at least 5 sb karanda hearts whereas I've only gotten two garmoth hearts. Also, the normal loot from Garmoth is generally horrendous (as bad as boss blitz loot), whereas Kutum, Kzarka, Karanda and Nouver almost always have useful loot.
I'll try to fight a different boss then, to see if I can get loot, and to figure out how it works. Basically, these are my first few attempts to try to fight some world bosses. And I thought I did something wrong.
My DP is around 32x, my AP is 27x. Sadly I don't remember the exact numbers, but I hope it's enough. Sometimes - admittedly - I have to keep a distance not to get killed.
Oh, I haven't thought of creating alts yet. Actually I'm worried about one thing: It took me a very long time to do the main quests... since there are so many... (only the Land of the morning light main quests took weeks for me)
And I simply don't have enough free time to create alts and do these quests again..
However, you're right that even if you start at Ancient Stone Chamber (the best starting spot for a new character), it can take at least a week or two to get all PEN Tuvula gear.
If you don't use a season to make a boss alt, you can just buy her the gear (700 million each for 4 pieces of TET Lemoria armor, maybe 1.7 or a bit more each for main hand, awakening and subweapons, and then maybe some DUO or TRI blue or yellow accessories). Then you can tag the alt to your main character, and she'll gain XP and skill points just from your main character fighting monsters.
If you do use a season character, however, you can get free PEN Tuvula gear at the expense of a significant amount of your time.
This said, once you get to 370s or better DP, you won't die as much to world bosses (in fact, you might never die to them if you're careful). So at some point the only advantage of boss alts is that they save you the 15 minutes each way travel time for the fights.
Don't worry for now about making a boss alt. Try the world bosses, and then if you find one you like, then you can consider having an alt permanently parked at that world boss so you don't spend so much time travelling to it.
About alt characters: Can I have workers - separately - for each alternative character? So my workers (and the area where they work) are not shared?
I asked this question because currently I daily get ~100 million silver only from selling the materials which my workers produce. And if I can get workers for every alt character, it would help a lot to - basically passively - earn silver.
(I have a feeling that the game doesn't allow this, or there might be some limitations.) ?
As you suspected, workers are by city, not by character. :)
I've just tried with Offin, and didn't get any loot. I was there fighting from the beginning to the end (so I have no idea what's wrong).
I think you were right about the AP/DP requirement (I got very little damage). So thank you!
Also, if loot is your goal, I'd suggest staying away from Quint, Murok and Offin. They're just not worth it unless you're incredibly curious to try them, haha. I've never gotten anything good from them (as well as from other field bosses like Mudster).
I mostly stick to Kzarka, Karanda, Kutum and Nouver. And I do Garmoth as well, but I know up front Garmoth loot is horrendous. And if you don't have the quest before garmoth spawns, you don't get any loot at all. On a related note, I also never got anything remotely good from boss blitz nor Vell.
p.s. I also have a mental block against Black Shadow. I've done it twice, and gosh it's so unworth it, haha.
This time Kzarka worked for me. So I have no explanation why the previous bosses didn't give me anything. Maybe the loot is given randomly. (?)
personally i love succ rangers for a boss alt 1 skill can spam it even on CD ez and simple and succ ranger has amazing range too
garmoth make sure u grab the quest first from the otter otherwise the only loot u get is a buff

p.s. Though succession ranger is pretty friggin' difficult against groups. I tested one at elvia saunil camp last week, and she'd miss monsters standing right next to her, the targeting is such a narrow beam. But as you said, against world bosses, wow she's cool :) Succession ranger is a very good example of an extremely specialized class. I think the developers intended for her to switch between sword and bow as needed, but the what's the point of making an archer class.
