Sniper Rifle Min Range

Is there a minimum range for sniper rifle? after finished the quest to get one, im trying to hunt wild fox and giant wolf, but the reticle never turned red like when i'm hunting seagull

The sniper rifle can only be used against certain enemies. I think one of the first ones that you can use it on is the Sensitive Elk near Velia.

Also, the reticle won't change colour like with the regular matchlocks. Aiming with a sniper rifle zooms in with the scope, and you use the controls to steady your breath before firing. Mousing over the sniper rifle should show you the controls, otherwise it's probably in the Adventurer's Guide or on a wiki somewhere.

i'm pretty sure, there was another red reticle when i aimed at the seagull (in sniping mode, of course). i'm gonna test it on Sensitive Elk

The seagull quest through Chuck Laurie to get the [Hunting] Practice Sniper Rifle, I used it against an Elk in Velia to test it out and the reticle did show up. Head shots do more damage.
Range is 100 meters.

※ How to Use
- After equipping the rifle, press SPACE and sit down and press RMB to switch to sniper mode.
- If you press LMB while in sniper mode, you will be able to aim more precisely, (the reticle shows up). While maintaining LMB , you will hold your breath. When your breath is exhausted, you will be kicked out of sniper mode.
- While maintaining LMB, if your aim is on a target, the aim icon will turn red. Release LMB to fire.
- If the aim icon is not red, even if you shoot the target will not be damaged, as the target is out of range.
- Maintaining LMB will make the aiming icon shrink, and once all the circles of the icon merge the accuracy will be at maximum.
- A mini-game will take place to reload the rifle. Once the color of the bullet becomes white, the mini-game will stop and you'll go back to sniper mode.
- You'll switch to sniper mode after a certain time has passed even if you fail the mini-game.
- During the reload mini-game, the location of your bullet will be displayed on bottom left. A red aim icon will show up in sniper mode.
- Chance of hitting a bullet within the red aim icon increases with higher hunting mastery.

Yep, after tested on Sensitive Elk, i was right about red reticle, it seems you can only hunt select few with Sniper mode, the weird part is, you can just shot the wild giant wolf and giant fox without sniping

Any animal you come across with a <Wild> tag on it, takes damage from a hunting matchlock; almost all players avoid hunting elks with the sniper rifle because it just takes too long. your a lot more efficient hunting up the hills near olvia and balenos with a regular matchlock on <Wild> animals using the regular shoot and run, than just zooming from the scope and aiming. its really not worth the time to use the sniper rifle for hunting tbh.

i think i was sold on head shot mechanic of Sniper Rifle, yeah it deals great damage, but unfortunately it cant be used to hunt everything only some wild animlas
