BDO does involve a TON of grinding, of which I like to do.
If you don't like grinding then most likely you will not like BDO.
I have only bought two things ever, in the three years I have been playing, that help my grind.
But there are others, that have never bought anything to help their grind, and they have been playing a lot longer than me. 😊
I am told things start to feel more natural and fluid at lvl 60.
No Energy or Contribution Points to speak of.
You have to do the main quest line to Valencia at least once.
I can totally understand the pain.
BDO does have a story, but it is not like a BioWare game story, so don't look for that.
The real fun is when you finally get the Ancient Stone Chamber quest line finished all the way through the Desert into Valencia.
After that you can do quick skips with all of your other characters and pick and choose where and what you want to do with a lot less roadblocks.
I see, what a shame.
I personally like BDO because I am not forced to play in a particular way to progress and literally doing anything in BDO is considered progress. Choose you poison.
Only real money you have to spend in BDO is to buy Tent, some inventory slots and weight limit for you main char as it makes grinding efficient and all can be bought with pearls you get from starter pack.
So, it's one of those games where I can just turn my brain off and chill? Doesn't sound too bad
My best advice is to just make a goal to do finish main questlines for all regions as it unlock so many rewards and pets for now.
Damn

Overall visually beautiful game, animations are a bit wonky, lips don't move as much when they talk (PS2-PS3 vibes), the game is pretty cheap and there's no subscription service. So I call that a good deal, so as MMOs go.. BDO is in my top 5.
Most people are forgetting there's a 2 hour refund policy, the longest game I've been able to refund was about 6 hours. Buy it, play it, don't like it? refund it.
true! but i still couldnt imagine being a beginner in this game without throwing 100-200 euro at it at least.. the amount of QoL you are lacking early on is insane
I wouldnt necessarily call the game p2w, but pay4qol
the game is p2w by definition, but all you do is grinding for yourself in this game..similar to a game like warframe.. so no matter if you throw money at it or not, you will be doing the exact same thing. with no downsides if you dont p2w, because you only grind for yourself, unlike lost ark for example, where you get gatekept from almost every lobby unless you keep up with the equipment standards of the communtiy
you will invest hundreds and thousands of hours in this game if you wanna make significant progress at some point in this game though.
if you dont like grinding BDO isnt for you. the people which play BDO love grinding, its not a downside for them, its one of the biggest reasons they play the game
This is a tough one
