Genuine advice for new players

Hello! I am looking to try out Black Desert and possibly play it for a while and I was wondering if there are any like MUST KNOW stuff that players could share, or if there are useful videos etc. I'd be happy with any kind of useful information for a full on beginner to help out with getting into and understanding the game better. Thanks in advance

First: Make a Seasonal Character and start on a Seasonal Server.
You can only have ONE seasonal character at a time.

When you start to play, you will eventually be given a choice:
01) Ancient Stone Chamber
02) Everfrost Eternal Winter
03) LoML (Land of Morning Light)

Choose the Ancient Stone Chamber.

You cannot edit your UI until your character is Level 10.
Beginners Guide to Editing Your UI

After you choose the Ancient Stone Chamber, follow it (the main quest line) all the way into Valencia and complete the Valencia quest lines.
Do not do side quests.
It will seem super simple at first.
BDO doesn't really get challenging until you reach levels 52 to 56.

Not immediately, but down the road while doing the main quest line, you will enhance your Naru Gear ALL except accessories. Do not enhance the Naru accessories. Enhance your Naru Weapons and Armors to PEN.
Once they reach PEN you will be prompted to exchange them for PRI Tuvala items.
You will enhance the Tuvala Gear and Tuvala Accessories to PEN.

I will stop here, because you really need to just jump in and start the Ancient Stone Chamber. Then later you can ask more questions. 😊

I wasn't going to bother trying this game because it sounds like it has so many convoluted, outdated, and irrelevant systems, questlines and items that need to be cleaned up.

Will this help you avoid a lot of that?

pretty much everything in black desert is optional as it is, you don't really have to do much if you don't want to. obviously it's kind of required to do at least some questing but for the most part you can just do whatever and still make progress

A good advice is not to invest money in the game unless you are buying the tent or maids but buy them with coupon and event price reduction or a 2+1 maid deals

Tent and maid/butler are the best things to get

you should not buy anything untill you know yourself that you need it
(a new player would have no benefit from maids nor the bought tent)
just giving a company money for no reason before you even know you are going to need the product feels like a bad idea

you will get maids from just playing the game and during events
( I have over 20 maids and I have not bought any for example)
and the only thing you miss out if you use the in game tent is easy access to villa buffs
and that is not that important in the grand scheme of things

Yes, as what joj0.st4r wrote. Agree totally.
There is no need to buy anything.
First you should know and understand BDO.
Also know PA (Pearl Abyss) gives away lots of items all throughout the year.
Not having bought anything for the time being will not hinder your game play.

Finish the Valencia quest line.

The reason why I press this is because when you complete all of that, any other Seasonal character you might create, you can do the accelerated quest line and Not have to do all of that again.

Then you should have a better understanding of BDO and know what to buy should you buy anything. 😊

If you have Amazon Prime, then their Prime Gaming thing has given away a bunch of BDO stuff too.

I had a horse. It is not at the stable, I can't call it to me, and there is no remote collection option.

If the horse is out of the stable.... The horse head symbol on the upper left of the screen, RMB on the icon and it will give you an auto-path trail leading to the horse. Sometimes you have to RMB a couple of times for it to show the path.

EDIT: Unless you are in the middle of the desert. Auto-path is disabled in the middle of the desert.
You'll have to walk to the nearest stable keeper and remote collect your horse.

Does the horse icon has a tombstone on it? If it does, your horse is dead, you can resurrect them at a stable.
