I go to a smaller town, where there aren't any other afk'ers, or just a few.
Always verify your loop as working before going afk. ( i see you mentioned doing this but i included it anyway!}
Choose a safe zone, because PK's can run by and attack just enough to knock you off your mount or off your circuit, then run off.
BDO is known to have memory leaks also, so you may want to restart your PC before an extended AFK period.
1. Anything that uses up too much of your PC's resources will interrupt the loop. For instance, I cannot play Fallout 4 in all-ultra with 4k resolution while auto-looping a horse, but I can play simple 2D games, graphic novels, audiobooks, YouTube streaming and almost anything else. Basically you have to make sure BDO has enough resources to play without hiccups. Being minimized to tray or not doesn't make a difference with this regard.
2. Any ISP interruption of even tiny length is going to interrupt your loop. BDO is not like Grand Theft Auto Online (which allows up to nearly 10 seconds of interruption without issue). BDO is more like Red Dead Online which means you can't play if you have any issues at all with internet.
3. Find a straight a path as you can for your loop. The reason is that if you have a performance hit the horse will be unable to handle turns or curves. The straighter the path the more resistant your loop will be to competing PC resources.
4. Train in Elvia. Make your loop, switch to Elvia, get on your horse, put on your horse training gear if applicable, set sprint if applicable, and loop. Then, if you wish, minimize to tray. The advantages of Elvia are there are no NPCs, no animals, no critters, no wandering fauna and just as importantly fewer players. In other words, Elvia requires less PC resources for your loop.
Good on you for bringing this point up.
