Rangers are actually pretty complex if you want to play them to their full potential.
Awaken Rangers have more mobility, but sacrifice a bit of Bow Damage to use Dual Kamasylvia Swords along with their Bow.
Succession Rangers are full Bow users and deal out more Bow damage.
The thing about the Ranger is, like all classes, you need to dedicate yourself to the class to fully understand it.
Rangers have a lot of skills that when unlocked fully or almost fully, they unlock keyboard shortcuts for other skills.
Say the skill normally uses Shift+Q (Will of the Wind) to fire off the skill, with the shortcut unlocked you can now use Shift+Q or A+F or D+F to fire off that same skill.
Also, sometimes instead of using all three forms of an attack, it is better to only use two forms and switch to a different skill, so you don't lock yourself momentarily.
Some skills if you do a quick kick and immediately switch to a different skill there is no animation which causes the skill to fire off faster.
You need to dedicate yourself to the Ranger to learn and have the muscle memory to automatically make all of it happen.
I do not main a Ranger, but my Ranger is my 100% World Boss ALT.
I get a lot of Boss focus on me every time I fight them, because Rangers can dish out a lot of damage. You just need to know how to use their full kit and not just use 3 or 4 skills. 😊
This said, I also very much dislike succession witch, so you might not enjoy witch until you can awaken her.
I'll give reasons why I like/dislike the various choices to give context.
1. Woosa: she's just so boring. She stands still, there's practically no movement, and I can't even tell when she's casting other than to wait and hope monsters start dying. With woosa i feel like i'm not really participating in the game. I feel like I'm just passing time while monsters die around me. It's jut not fun.
2. Succession witch (and pre-awaken witch). This depends on tons of combinations where one spell has to flow into another to make something more powerful. It's confusing, and she's also very stationary (not as bad as woosa, but bad).
3. Awakened witch: She's a dancing dodge machine. She's highly mobile but in a controlled way, and she's just so joyful even in dangerous areas. She has 3 heal spells (1 small self heal and 2 big group heals), but she rarely needs them because her evasion and dance dodging is so good. And she does good damage in PVM.
With regard to Sorceress, I have one and like her a lot, but I'm not very good at using her. I keep meaning to use her more, but it's been a few years while I still keep putting that off.
With regard to ranger, I like Succssion (bow-user) Ranger a lot as well.
But Awakened witch is my second favorite class in the game (after Awakened Guardian).
