FF14 has a ton of polish behind the movement and facing animations. Also, as I've said before the game has a major graphical update coming soon with the next expansion.
not if ur done all the content and waiting on new patches lol
This game is a bit more of a investment money wise it has been changed where getting into it you will be fine but if you do plan on spending a few hundred hours in it you will most likely wanna invest something. However if you take into account the cost of a game like ff14+ expansion+ subscription it will pretty much break even and in the long haul be cheaper as long as your not shelling out for cron stones and such and only buying necessary items.
On BDO's side I will say it has "more" to do then FF14 in the end game. I have played ff14 since the 1.0 release and its a game I always go back to on a new expansion then quit a month or so later cause its very easy to get to a point where you feel like your just logging in to do a small checklist every week then logging out where as BDO there is a ton of avenues you can always feel like you are progressing in one way or another.
FFXIV is a multiplayer game with good social aspect very good coop gameplay. You can play together not only parallel. You can and must help each other (dungeons) can share and gift stuff and you can study mechaincs to make difficult dungeons and raids together. The only backdraw is the dated graphics which is not really up to date anymore. It's somewhere stuck in the time where you slide the character above the ground when you turn instead of stepping and so on.
Couldn't have said it better.
BDO is the "make your own story" kind of game, while FF14 is a theme park that takes your hand.
I like and have played both games for a long period of time and they are both completely different from each other. Combat, progress etc.
Both are great games.
Pros of BDO:
Graphics.
Combat (one of the best in the genre, if not the best).
Character creator and general customization (Again, one of the best in the genre).
Profession system (It is so good that you can stop fighting monsters entirely and focus on professions alone).
Class diversity (A LOT of different classes that each have 2 different combat styles and skill trees).
Seasons (like ARPG seasons. Fresh start, great rewards for your account. You don't have participate).
You can buy skins etc. in the auction house.
Cons of BDO:
Slow progress in comparison.
Oldschool grind. Spending sometimes a hundred hours (in the late game) on the same grind spot if you are looking for a super rare item drop.
Professions can be overwhelming for new players because you have to set up supply lines on the world map and recruit workers etc.
Monthly subscription (Value Pack/VIP. Around 10 bucks) that is a must have if you want to be more efficient with your time.
Pros of FF14:
Probably THE best story in the whole MMO genre.
Awesome high quality cutscenes.
Boss fights can feel very epic
Great community (You will have to be part of it because you will have hard time as solo player in FF14).
Housing (Even though BDO has a nice housing system I like FF14's better).
The game does not look bad visually.
Cons of FF14:
The game feels very linear overall, even though it has some side stuff you can do.
Combat feels a bit oudated and is tab target.
Story can be a bit annoying at times due to it being very long, and the game really forces you to play the story. Again, game is taking you by your hand.
Monthly subscription model and you have to buy expansions.
Again, both great games. I personally like BDO a bit better though because I like the freedom it offers. If BDO had the story-telling and cutscenes that FF14 has... it would probably be the number 1 mmorpg on the market.
