Magnus quests - are they mandatory to get to Awakening?
Hi,
I have a seasonal character, and have just got to the Magnus part. I have done the first couple of puzzles so I can get the storage access. Do I need to continue the Magnus questline? Is it part of the main questline to reach Awakening, or just additional to that?

Should I persevere with the Magnus now, or just jump in/out of it when I feel like it?
Thanks

Think of Magnus as a side game to BDO. It's unfortunately essential because of the Quality of Life rewards you get from it, but it has little or nothing to do with your actual character progression.

after you reach level 56 the black spirit will have a quest for you about awakening
you can jump in and do a couple of magnus quests whenever you feel like it
the main reason to do the quests is to get access to all storages in game
+ a free pen boss armor piece(that you can not use as a season character anyway so you can not wear it untill after the season is over or you choose to graduate early on your character)

It's best to complete it to receive the shared storage rewards for all locations and the boss gear. The teleportation is ok but could use some reworking to be a notable reward.
Luckily for you, this buggy, boring and tedious quest line doesn't take the cake.
You have the Valencia and Land of Morning Light main quest lines fighting for that top spot.

Hi, thanks for quick replies. I will dip in and out of the Magnus in that case, when I feel like spending a bit of time on it.

I had to laugh are your comment crizzydime, thankfully I didnt choose any of those 2 quest lines.
All replies much appreciated.

With regard to Land of Morning Light, having completed it finally yesterday, I also definitely consider that a side game to BDO. You get +1 DP and +1 AP upon completion (which is around 24 hours of sheer boredom and bugs), and that does virtually nothing for you until you get way up in gear scores where you struggle for weeks or months on every +1 AP or +1 DP. LoML has far less benefit than Magnus does.

As for Valencia, I personally loved that quest line. But I do recommend holding off on it until you have an infinite health potion so the desert sickness can't kill you. Also if you have a Dine (can sprint in the desert) it becomes even more fun.

That's not viable for the Valencia quest line in which you have to spend hours at a stretch in the desert. It means even if you go AFK to get food or use the restroom, or if you get a phone call, or if someone knocks on your door, you can die with death penalty to desert sickness by the time you return.

And the fairy consumption of tea and water is likewise inadequate as there are minutes between drinks with it during which you can die.

No, I heartily recommend to new players that they NOT do the Valencia quest line without the infinite health potion.
