You can get a cooking tool from vendors, houses cost Contribution points being invested in a town :)
to start with the basic tool will be fine if that's all you have access too :)
Cooking/alchemy tools wear out as you use them the better tools you can get repair boxes for by exchanging a none broken version of the tool with certain npc's (islin bartali in velia for cooking repair tool is one) just take them a tool and exchange it, this saves you having to keep entering "place mode" at your house, then removing and throwing away the broken tool and placing a new one :)
