Black Desert

Black Desert

Is it possible to complete all quests?
As a completionist, I really wanted to try to do all the quests.
After a while, I arrived at the conclusion that this goal is pretty hard to achieve. There are daily/weekly quests and complex requirements. I think it's even difficult to track which quests have already been completed.

Maybe the game was just simply not made for me (for a completionist mindset)?
What do you think?

Thanks,

If that's your goal, I recommend keeping 1500000000 aside (represented by gold bars, 10 from 100000000 and 5 from 100000000) ..... there is a mission that requires this sum to complete and that unlocks more upon its completion .

Some missions you unlock according to the level with the character, objectives achieved and missions completed .

Still others you unlock according to the class you use and then go to add up in total to the family ones .

Some NPCs are present only during the night, and others only during the day, therefore..... happy quest hunting .

I've been playing BDO 10.5 thousand hours and have completed roughly 11 thousand quests. BDO also keeps adding more quests, and I'm working on a quest to complete 20 thousand quests after which there are additional quests to complete even more.

Is it possible to complete all quests? In my humble but probably correct guess, no, it's not.

You're better off just picking quests which look interesting and doing them.

You can browse through available quests to see which ones have rewards you might like. I do that sometimes and usually am happy for it.

There are quests that take you all over the BDO world, and that's a fun way to play :)

p.s. I'm on one quest chain that I'm simply not strong enough to complete and which I can't imagine being strong enough to complete anytime in the next year or two. It's the Elvia Depraved Kzarka questline where I have to solo kzarka several times, and at 298 AP and 350ish DP I can't even beat it once and have tried dozens of times.

p.p.s. You can be a copletionist in BDO without completing the tens of thousands (or more) quests because quests are lumped into quest chains. So just complete quest chains rather than worrying about completing the whole game. BDO is not a game you can win. It's a game you can explore and live :)

I think this is not only my goal but there is a fair amount of players on Steam who try to complete games at 100%.
I admit I have little playtime (in the range of ~100..200 hrs) in Black Desert. It's unclear for me when I will get a feeling of completion. It often feels like I don't really complete anything because more quests / questlines appear. :)

Question: What does 1500000000 mean? The amount of silvers necessary to complete a quest? or gold? I think I haven't seen that quest yet. Do you remember its name?

That's completely fine by me. :)

Karna5, that's exactly what makes me a bit worried. It seems as soon as I complete something, there is more and more to do. So I never really get a feeling of satisfaction (like in other games, when I complete a campaign / story mode). Instead, I get another feeling which tells me that I should work more, put more effort into the game. Otherwise I won't really progress. And I admit it makes me disappointed. I don't have much free time. Furthermore, I like when I can save a game and continue it on another day or week without losing anything. In black desert, I can lose opportunities (buffs / items / events / etc) if I don't play it regularly.

That sounds amazing!

Question: But how long do you think we should play this game to become strong enough? And who has enough free time to do it?

I mean, I can't afford to play a game for even 1k hours due to real life duties (family, work, studies).

Based on your answer, I get a feeling that we (or I) will never be able to really finish / complete it.

Good luck, I really hope that you will be able to win soon!

According to my current progress, I'm very far from it.

Sadly, I get this exact feeling. Personally for me, it's not winning that matters. I just want to complete its story, to get an understanding, to get a feeling of being successful, and most importantly, to get a feeling of making progress.

I've played several other games, Black desert is the first one where I'm a bit frustrated due to the aforementioned issues.

Exploration is great, there are beautiful places in the world of Black desert, but as an adult gamer, I really refuse to live in a computer game. I just want to complete it or at least get a feeling of getting closer to that goal.

I actually have another question:
Is it a necessity to put any real-life money into this game? I've seen that Pearl shop. Personally, the game is absolutely playable for me without spending any real money on it.

In conclusion, I play this game alone, solo. So I'm not interested in any pvp or guilds. When my free time allows me, I do a few quests, this is what I can afford, I don't have much free time. To be honest, I don't want to feel sad because of it. When I play, my usual goal is to enjoy my games. I'm not sure how I can deal with Black desert (=how I can approach this game) to enjoy it instead of becoming frustrated ("oh, there is more work / more quests again!"). I also play other games, and I'm not going to exclusively play Black desert.

Thank you,

Hi, Lady Noire. I can't read most of what you said (healing from eye surgery), but I used a magnifying glass and did my best to get the gist of several of your comments and questions. I'm sure others will pipe in better than me and on stuff I missed. Also I might be better able to read in a few days :)

I'll take a shot at commenting on ssme of what I got from your post :) (Please forgive tpos. I can't see my words)

1. Game Lore quests:
Answer:Each region has its own lore questline handled by having you talk to different people and factions of the regeon and doing quests for or against them. These you can complete all the way to the end. For instance, you can do the lore quests for Balenos, Media, Calpheon, Valencia, etcetera onward to higher and higher level areas.

2. Quests that cost a ton of silver:
Some quests give powerful rewards.. For instance, there's a series of quests that, if you "buy" the quests for 1.5 billion you are rewarded by ots more hit points for all the characters in your account--not something unbalancing. Not something ou absolutely need. But something that as you get stronger may feel worthwhile.

For instance, there are items you can get that add 150 hp to one character for the cost of a few billion silver on the central market, or you can spend 1.5 billion to get that much automatically for all your characters. When you reach a stage where you are enticed at the thought of buying gear for billions, the 1.5 billion on the quest won't feel so bad. But in the beginning it's an absurd amount :)

Likewise, there's a quest you can do to get a PEN ring which might cost you 15 billion silver (I'm guessing as I'm not in game so just accept that as conversation figure), but the Jetina guaranteed PEN jewelry quest ends up costing around 7 billion. Both figures, 7 billion and 15 billion, are absurd amounts. But at some stage you'll probably be interested in working toward the 7 billion silver quest, maybe. And if you don't, that's fine, too. It's not essential to playing the game.

3. Living in a PC game
*Laughs* That's just how I talk and think about books and music and movies and TV shows an PC Games. If they're very good, for the time you're in them, you live in them. You experience them like a fully fleshed dream. That doesn't mean you don't have real life when you put down the book/movie/game/etc :)

4. Getting Stronger
BDO really is a gigantic game. And there's no "winning" it. It's designed in a way that whatever the strength of your characters they try to give you a ton to do. Getting stronger is a super gradual process.

In theory yes you can power play to get strong but I think that's abswurdly stupid. It means you skip past all the the game designed for the low and medium and high medium difficulty. What's the point of that? It's like going camping and wanting to climb a mountain bit not appreciating the base of the mountain and the middle of the mountain and only caring about the three foot rock at the top where you want to put your flag. That's not how one should appreciate the universe, both figuratively and real life :)

I've made friends along the way who surpassed me in strength or in life skills or all sorts of stuff. But I don't care because I'm not racing to "win" but am just trying to enjoy stuff.

I do NOT grind. Some people will fight the same monsters for a hundred hours trying to get s uper rare drop. I refuse to do that. I'll fight stuff exactly until It doesn't feel fun anymore, and then i look for something else to do.

I also have 16 characters (aproximately I keep forgetting to count, haha). Sometimes I mix things up by playing a different character instead of changing locations.

5. Adding new quests all the time
Here's the thing. The developers who design and create BDO think of this game as a lway of life for them, as a career (Im paraphrasing a recent interview in which they said approximatley that). They intend to keep BDO going for 30 years (which I presume to mean until they decide to retire).

Of cource they'll keep adding new lands and quests. This is their life. This is their joy. And as long as they enjoy it, they'll give us stuff to enjoy as well.

This isn't a single player game where you spend 40 or 100 hours and do everyything. It's a world you visit.

I play other games at the same time. I play BDO, and then I paly GTA Online, and then I play BDO, and then I pmod Falloujt 4, and then I play Fallout 4, and then I play Control or a ton of other games. Check my steam provfile and see how many games I own and play. BDO is not designed to be all you do. It's a world to visit that keeps adding more places to visit.

(I know I have typos in there I'm sorry. Hopefully it was still readable)

6. Spending rea,l life money in BDO
Above I mentioned power playing to get to higher level areas. In theory, if you're absurdly rich in real life, you can do that. The fact is, though, it's also absurdly stupid. A game should not be judged on what stupid peopple do.

If you play BDO as it's designed, gradualling leveling up characters and exploring, you never ever have to spend real life money.

Some people will say, "But you need a tent to fix your gear and buy scrolls!" To that I say, or you can hop on your horse and gallop 45 seconds to an NPC who will fix your gear and sell you stuff, haha.

Some people will say, "HBut you need to buy maids to send stuff to your bank or central market without interrupting your monster hunting!" To that I say you can also stash infinite weight on your horse while you fight monsters. Just swap the stacks to yourself and then back to the ho rse. In addition, I've never spent money on maids and lost count of how many I have (way more othan 30). BDO gives them to you free regularly throughout th eyear.

Some people will say, "But you need to spend real money on pets so you can have the best possible T4 looting machines!" *laughs* And to that I say BDO gives you TONS of pets, and you can combine them over time to make them first T3 and then T4.

I like to spend real life money on outfits for my characters. I don't need to do that, and they give away outfits all the time. But I enjoy it. When there are sales on the BDO market I like to buy dyes to make my clothing and gear pretty, but that doesn't make me stronger. I just like it.

I played for at least 7 or 8 thousand hours walking on foot to my horse where i put it.Lately I've been gradually buying Celestial Horns for some of my characers so they can call their horse from anywhere. Do I need to do that/ No, but I like it :)

Okay I'm probably rambling. In short, though, here's my advice. The basic BDO is around $10. ALternatively, like many other online games, you can buy "DLC" packs which come with quality of life stuff. I started BDO with the $10 pack and several thousand hours later bought some DLCs because I'd decided I like this game and don't mind spending money on stuff I like. But please read in that I played thousands of hours spending just the $10. Nothing else is essential.

7. <pre pm jogj emd ggear:
When I first strated playing BDO 2 or 3 years ago I was also playing Red Dead Online. I logged into RDO every single day for two full years. In that time I got so friggi' rich and had so much of all the gear I wanted and all the professions I remotely thought were interesting I suddenly realizedthere was no point to log in anymore. I had more than I could spend, nothing new to do and had, essentially, "won" Red Dead Online. I had another friend whom I know from the Fallout 4 forums on Nexus Mods, and we were talking about that we were both in exactly the same situation with RDO. We both even had more horses than we could ever dream of using. So we both quet RDO that day.

That was more than a year ago, and I'm still in Black Desert. Both RDO and BDO have developers who try to keep the game goin gby adding new stuff. But Black Desert does a better job of it.

So long as Black Desert periodically does graphical upgrades and animation elegance upgrades and keeps adding new lands and quests, I probably will be here 30 years from now if I can :)

Anyway, I'm sure I missed a lot of points you said Please forgive me. I just can't see them, but hopefully I got the spirit of what you said. Thanks *bows*

@Lady Noir

Is a mission that you take in port epheria, I do not remember how I came to unlock it , in any case when it is available you get it from the npc that acts as a deposit/treasure chest ..... as I wrote above 1500000000 is the total figure represented by the 15 gold bars from 100000000 .

If you already have them at the time of the request well , otherwise with silver just switch them into ingots with any npc that performs the function of deposit/chest .

Of course there will be the small commission fee to turn silver into gold bars .

If your aim is to be able to do them all , if I remember correctly they are around 90000 missions and if you have no problems with the Korean language , if you can play with them finding a good group they will "tow-guide" you in less than a month to do almost all of them...... almost all of them .

But from what I understand , it seems that you have little time to play , therefore , follow your pace quietly .

If instead you want to unlock only the objective in the list of titles in the game "30K", you just need to be able to make only 30000 .

Good continuation .

""With the text below I am not addressing you @Lady Noir , it is a simple informative .
In addition to being a fact finding that periodically arises .""

"My written form" is not perfect of the English I use in the forum , and it is clear that this is not my language and that I use a translator to be able to write , I use what I can as a program for this purpose .
But in the context it is broadly understood by many who read or try to read my texts . Unfortunately, there are inevitable users who in their "hypothetical erudition" of which they strut have to start "squawking" , complaining about the grammatical form of the text or what they understand or do not understand in the texts I posted .
Leaving aside the simple fact that they take pleasure in trying to anger people , they try , stupidly and unnecessarily with their veiled "arrows/words" , always falling within the limits of the regulation of the forum to not be reported ...... the classic "kids" .

I forgot, following the missions related to the basic story, in the Old Wisdow Tree location there is an npc that allows you to skip various missions and go directly to an advanced point in the story .

When there are particular cases like this , at some point the texts are written in red to signal that you will take a choice with some relevance of the path you want to choose in the course of the game .

There are various NPCs with "red features written" in the game , but if you are interested to do many missions , the one just described is inadvisable in that described area/town .

I don't think all quests is a good idea, maybe go for full knowledge instead?

That too , one and the other are connected to each other as "in a marriage" :rosebud: in this game (quests and knowledge) .
