I concur. The awakened weapons blow!
I do have trouble keeping my mystic from constantly trying to auto-switch to the wrong weapon, but that might be my unfamiliarity with the keys as I don't use my mystic much.
But it's probably been more than a year since my guardian used non-awakening weapons on foot.
01) TET or PEN the Awaken Weapon.
02) Get a lot more Skill Points and Max out many of your Awaken Skills. Doing this will make more combos possible.
03) Putting the right Add-On's onto your Awaken Skills.
04) Helping both Awaken and your Standard Skills get your Critical to +5.
Awakened weapons get combos? I thought most combos start with the sword and shield and then you switch to great sword. That is why I felt awakened weapons feel like a secondary instead of a primary imo. Also all skill enchancements are for sword and shield nothing that combines both primary and secondary skills into a new skill which I find bad.
As a person who has played Awakening warrior up to 62 this season, you definitely do not need to use sword and shield to effectively damage mobs with warrior. The only thing you use your main hand for when you fully spec out your greatsword is to dash between mobs with w+F, and even then just using a shift dash will auto swap you back to awakening. Some classes will benefit from swapping to mainhand to apply buffs, but even then you never are forced to. There is a separate skill menu for awakening skills if you press k and look at the top. There are a lot of very hard hitting combos with warrior that exclusively use the greatsword, and I for one have never used mainhand since awakening unless for the dash trick above.
Also I did forget to mention that the first time you pull out your weapon you will need to simply press C to swap to the awakening weapon, from then on its the only used weapon 99% of the time. Though you will need to unlock the awakening skills in the k menu to utilize it. The skill enhancements for awakening will show up once you unlock awakening skills with skill points.
I see thats good to hear. What skills and abilities did you use for your skill add on? I have no idea where to start with that. Also how did you organize your combos? The great sword has no tool tips for combos so I have no idea where to start a chain.
Looking for flows is a good idea (usually moves directly in front of other skills, like [example move] -------[example move] are usually combos as you call them. Skill addons are more personally tailored to your playstyle. But regarding addons, I recommend focusing on accuracy, attack speed, ap, and reducing monster dp to start with, and work your way to other things that you find help you. Do combos in an order that you find comfortable. I usually prefer RMB+LMB+LMB(this is a flow slash), S+LMB into shift+RMB and finally Shift + LMB, but you can also use the LMB flow like S+LMB+LMB instead of the RMB+LMB+LMB. A lot of this stuff is up to you, so just figure out a rotation you like of any of the above skills plus anything else you like, and in any order is fine, that usually doesn't matter so much.
If any of that is confusing, I apologize. I just packed an insane amount of information in a tight space, so I am happy to clarify any of that if need be.
You no longer have to pull your standard weapon first and then C swap into awaken.
With weapons sheathed (tabbed away) you can just push your C key and go right into your awaken weapon. 😊
Thanks for the advice I am going to try and make my warrior just a great sword user and see how it goes.
Adamantine (RMB) > Ankle Hook (Continue with RMB).
But you got into the bad habit of moving forward while doing it (W + RMB).
When you get your Awaken skills one can grab Sea Burial (W + RMB).
Pushing the W + RMB will pull you from pre-awaken right into awaken 'Sea Burial'.
For example my high gear ranger seemed to suck on awakening but on succession it was great.
