For instance, there are many of those shipyards in Calpheon, and should you fish inside one of these lofts, made to ease the boats into the water, your float will bob in the water, but you won't ever catch any fish at all! Regardless of what your fishing preferences are set to, whether automated or otherwise -- you'll catch NO fish or junk.
Try moving some distance away from 'that' particular spot (your spot of trouble in particular), to get the fishing mini-game going where you're allowed to catch fish instead.
Wouldn't call it a bug, per se, but more an oversight in coding.
That's a small tangent on this regard, as the no-catch matter can go on for the entirety of the AFK fishing process, which in most cases is left on for hours. So it isn't really an issue about lag, and more about the game's restrictions that were not properly implemented.
